Nintendo 3DS

I must admit, I read the first part of that sentence and thought OMG!! Then I came to my senses realising nothing has been announced and likely won't either.

We're more likely to see a Artoon developed Metroid than we are a new F-Zero. Just think of that for a minute.. shudder.

that's alright, I still have OoT (one of those rare games where you just have to complete and find everything - that will take 50+ hours), Pokemon and Harvest Moon (both games with infinite gameplay). And of course Layton vs Wright.

I agree though, 3DS and Wii U their portfolio is not looking good at all.

Apparently the video app is being phased out now.. I suppose it doesn't surprise me, they never seemed to make the most of it. Shame though. Please understand n all that eh.

they had a 3D vid of a racer in a downhill ice skating race with 3 other guys in first person, that was amazing.

That's all well and good (if mm really does exist) but it does seem currently like a gradual winding up of the platform is on the horizon. The complete absence of third parties, the reliance solely on Nintendo titles, release of the 2ds and sidelining of 3d, the spluttering indie scene compared to vita.

That might be true but its very existance starts to fragment the market. Why bother taking the performance hit (and extra work load to fix perf) if a slice of the market can't even see the effect? Or try to design something that relies heavily on the effect and then close yourself off from that group purchasing your title. Yes no titles have really done that yet but now they probably won't ever be attempted either.

The public doesn't care about 3D and lots of kids want cheap consoles to play Pokemon.

I wouldn't be surprised if 2ds sales eventually overtake 3ds ones. It's considerably cheaper and more child friendly.

It also has way better shoulder buttons and you don't get cramp when playing for over 10 minutes. In truth I do miss the 3D with OoT, but I prefer the more natural handling

Posted this elsewhere but still not sure. Only got back into handheld a month or so ago, and I'm liking the sound of the professor layton games. They're good, right?

But is it the sort of thing where it'd be worth going right back to the curious village? I'm thinking the boxes out (or stretched full screen) way it'll work on the 3ds XL will just become infuriating.

So I'm tempted to just get whichever the first 3ds layton game was. Good idea or not?

The first 3DS game was the second in a trilogy, so you'll be wanting Spectre's Call (the first in the second trilogy) at the very least.

The second trilogy is set before the first.

A trilogy that split across consoles? Mad. Screw it, I'll get curious village for a few quid and see how I go. I'm sure after a bit my eyes will adapt.
