Nintendo 3DS

There are some caveats which include price & availability plus the general confusion regarding transfers like hughsieman - although he was doing something particularly 'rare'. Agree though - eShop in general is great.

Indeed, I was trying to have my cake and eat it by basically getting the Ambassador games when I only got a 3DS this year. Although not knowing what will happen and if the transfers will work is pretty shit.

That aside though the whole Nintendo infrastructure things is a poorly thought out mess as has already been stated.

As well since I'm going for it now it actually annoys me a bit that they haven't put GBA games on the 3DS eShop aside from the Ambassador games. There are quite a few additional ones I would buy immediately. Even if there are technical issues then for fucks sake just solve them and get the games up there. And where are the SNES games? Again, there may be technical issues to be solved but just get it sorted. If they aren't working on this then they truly are idiots.

Super Mario Bros Deluxe is a pretty excellent wee game to have for free. It feels a little claustrophobic being restricted to the Game Boy Color's resolution but having both Super Mario Bros and The Lost Levels and all those additional challenges is pretty great.

It feels slightly different from the original, which I play pretty often. At the end of 1-1 you can jump from the pipe to the top of the stairs in a single leap since it's seven blocks high instead of eight. Doesn't seem like you can get to world -1 either but I was never great at doing that anyway.

Also, Nintendo's insistence in not modifying their emulated games in any way is pretty annoying when one of the main menu options is an unusable Vs Mode. Guh.

Just had a couple of great games online with that new Sub Wars. I can't see where the hate is coming from, it's quite a tactical, fun little game and the multiplayer maps are awesome! Best one so far is the gold fish tank, with a huge hollowed out log in the middle to hide in. Strategy seems to lie in conserving your torpedoes for when you're close enough to get a guaranteed hit, although your enemy's going to be thinking the same thing. It also helps to stop and survey the battlefield for your next move, as obviously you don't appear on radar if you're not moving. It's like a slower, more cerebral Star Fox.

It's a great team game too - success comes from getting in line with your team mates as soon as possible and staying with them to add your firepower to each other's. Lone wolves will end up getting battered sharpish. Great feeling when there's just one red sub remaining and you're in a pack of blue subs hunting it down.

And I've not paid anything for it yet!

The unusable Vs. mode pisses me off too. Great game though, even if it isn't quite the 'definitive' version that the manual claims it is. And those challenges! Can see them lasting me quite a while. And the boo races!

There must be some Eastern European dev willing to do something like this?

There was a kickstarter for one, I think, which met it's target and Wii U stretch goal. Dunno if a 3DS version was planned.

EDIT: I'm thinking of C-Wars, which isn't that at all. It's more like a cyberpunk Fire Emblem. But, it did have a 3DS goal and it did meet it (as well as the Wii U one).

Yeah that AC adaptor sticker on the box is just plain embarrassing. There's something seriously wrong if they can't afford to chuck in a way to charge your expensive new device. Tbh I'm surprised it doesn't contravene some EU directive or other?

Meanwhile the larger battery for the Wii U comes with a screwdriver to help you fit it.

Who knew something good would come out of the recession.

During the Nintendo Direct, I'm sure that they said Yoshi's New Island doesn't actually come with the Yoshi's New Island 3DS.

Sorry you're right, it's just a Yoshi themed XL and does not include New Island

Got a Super Mario Bros Deluxe code today but I'm not going to use it - I've already got SMB on my 3DS. First person with over 500 posts who wants it and quotes this can have it.

rubber baby buggy bumpers!

Edit: Already have it, don't throw it to me. :)

First person to post a screenshot of their Wetrix classic high score whilst showing their copy of Wiz n Liz pointed up at the screen with yourself wearing a Sonic hat gets the code.

Or, you know, just ask Mdn2. Much hugs.

This is very good of you, but you know DX is ten times the game the original is, right? Races, challenges, Lost Levels...
