Nintendo 3DS

Alternatively: it was a pile of mediocrity on 360/PS3 and on Vita (trying to feed off the enduring appeal of retro games without actually capturing their depth or charm), I can't imagine the 3DS version fixes it.

Didn't know there was a 3DS version, but RCR is a very bad game which is fun for 15 minutes due to being chaotic. Avoid.

I thought this was supposed to be a major indie darling? Seem to remember it reviewed well at the time too? Could we elaborate a little on what makes it so bad? I was thinking of taking a punt on it as well but second thoughts now.

It's basically a parody game with (deliberately?) terrible gameplay which isn't very good at being parodical. It's... diverting for a very short period simply because it is so wildly OTT. But that wears thin very quickly, at which point you realise it's a bit shit. Bad controls, annoying mission design, intense frustration. Etc.

I wasn't aware of it being any kind of indie favourite.

Cheers chaps. I'll give it a miss then! Maybe I was getting it mixed up with that other game, can't remember it now. Top down, 80s theme, running around gunning people down in buildings, needed to be stealthy, punishing difficulty..? Gah can't remember the name! Anyone?

Very unlikely, although it would be really, really cool in 3D. I think there might be very major control issues on 3DS - it was designed for keyboard and mouse, just about works (but not nearly as well) with dual analogue sticks. I suppose Nintendo probably wouldn't approve of the brutality and sleazy tone. It's on Vita I think, if you want it handheld.

The 3DS I was planning on buying was £160 for this bundle:

Unboxed 3DS with the following pre-Installed
1.Pokemon Y
2.The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time
3.Kid Icarus: of Myths and Monsters [VC]
4.Castlevania : The Adventure [VC]
5.The Legend of Zelda [VC]
6.The Legend of Zelda - Oracle of Seasons [VC]
Also comes with £24.76 of credit in the Eshop.
Does £160 seem reasonable for that? How does the shop work? Presume no issue with the games being left on, and being able to use the store credit mentioned? I've no experience of any of the digital stuff from Nintendo and there doesn't seem to be any simple explanation anywhere!

Bah I'm really gonna have to get a Vita at some point. It does seem to be getting the kind of indie stuff I'm interested in.

1. Activate Streetpass and buy the extra Streetpass games (talk to the rabbit in the street pass plaza and he will give you the options. There's a bundle of all four for £13.49 IIRC but he only tells you about this after you tell him you want to buy one in the first place. It's a bit confusing but you'll get there).

2. Get Fire Emblem Awakening.

3. Enjoy!
