Nintendo 3DS

Had to send my 3DS XL to Nintendo today. Has had a dodgy speaker for a while. Warranty is up in February so couldn't put it off any longer. How long do they usually take with repairs? I'm missing it already! :(

It took them a few weeks to sort mine (it wouldn't charge), but I sent it around the middle of December, so there was slow post and Christmas and New Year that may have slowed down the process a bit. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived though because there were a couple of screen protectors included as well as another years warranty. Mine was about six months old, but I assume they do that for everyone.

Majora's Mask can be quite confusing and tough in parts but it's well worth sticking with it, it's one of the best Zelda games. I'll totally re buy it for the 3DS.

I'm sure it'll just get the same treatment as Ocarina of Time, which is fine with me :)

Oh those mine and rocket cart levels in DKCR are bastard hard... But feature some really impressive stuff. Surprised at how good this looks... Who did the port?

The guys that did Piliot wings 3DS Monster Games - double checked the wiki... they have been credited for the new wiiu one too! They must be helping Retro out.

Also the new one has the original composer back from the snes ones! Hopefully has some new future classic music in there!

Has anyone got Harvest Moon: A New Beginning? Would they recommend it?

Yep! The best Harvest Moon, I think. First month is ridiculously slow, then it starts to open up and there is a lot to it. I've sunk 85 hours into it and, while a massive Animal Crossing fan, Harvest Moon has taken over since buying it.

If you've played HM before, it's kind of a repetition game in terms of the farm/economy - but there's loads more to it than that.

Thanks, I will look out for a cheap copy and give it a go :)

MM pushed the N64 just a bit too far... the frame rate was terrible in places. So, I'd love to see a solid framerate version on the 3DS. Based on their learning from LBW, I hope they go for 60fps as well. Makes a massive difference.

They'd have to redo all the animation, and probably code as well, so I wouldn't count on it. OoT 3D was 20fps to match the original, this would be too.

Thinking of getting my kid a 3DS/XL/2DS for his birthday at the end of March. He'll be turning 6, enjoys stuff like the Lego games, racers, Skylanders etc and he's getting good at reading now as well. What are the top "family friendly" games I should be considering? Presumably Mario, Mariokart and...?
