I would say if you've never played Ocarina, then you need to slap yourself across the face a few times for leaving it so long and then play that. If you have played it, then get A Link Between Worlds. Its amazing, but not as amazing as the first time you play Ocarina of Time.

Okay. I'm finally considering getting a 3DS. There's just too many good games I'm missing (Fire Emblem, Mario Land, Zelda LBW, the new Laytons, MK7, Bravely Default, New Leaf and on and on.)

So, I have a couple of questions for you good folks.

1: 3DS or 3DSXL? Does the larger screen size/larger pixel size provide any real difference to visual experience - better/worse/neither? Won't be commuting with it so size/weight not an issue. Nor is the cost of the unit or the missing charger in the XL etc.

2: I assume I should get the largest memory card I can, but is there an upper size limit that the system can utilise? And are there makes/types of SDHC cards that are better than others based on read speed? If so, does that affect in-game performance or just loading times?

The larger screen and improved general design of the XL* makes it a nicer experience all round. Yes, the PPI is obviously a bit lower but that doesn't matter much at all in this case, as the resolution still looks good on the screen. Games look nice on the big screen, the 3D works well and it is more comfortable to look at.

*Matte finish, better start/home/select buttons, much more comfortable to hold for a longer play session.

It's a really nice device.

Definitely the XL. I have both, and the XL is so much nicer in every way. It's more comfortable, the 3D effect works better on the big screen and it's just a more polished, evolved product than the original 3DS that still looks a bit like an escaped prototype.

To answer 2, 128GB at least works. 32GB is as high as supported, but I've got a 64GB in mine - you just have to format them correctly.

I bought this one: http://www.mymemory.co.uk/SDXC/Lexar/Lexar-Premium-64GB-Class-10-200x-30MB_s-High-Speed-SDXC-Memory-Card-

And did this: http://lofi-gaming.org.uk/blog/2013/10/25/updated-how-to-upgrade-your-3ds-sd-card-to-64gb-and-beyond/

Aye, hand size is surprisingly irrelevant. I have tiny hands, but far prefer the XL. And, much more unusually, my favourite controller is still the original Xbox pad. Yes, the behemoth.

You're probably just holding it wrongly, dekay. I have small girl's hands and shitty hypermobile joints and it is fine! There is a way I held it at first (fingers resting on the shoulders/under the screen, similar to a control pad) which was very uncomfortable. I soon realised that's the wrong way to hold it.

How do you hold it then? I still find it very uncomfortable to use unless I prop it on a cushion or something.

I hold it with three fingers behind the back (bottom), two fingers supporting the top while on the L and R buttons and thumbs on the circle pad and buttons. Doesn't feel uncomfortable to me, although I tend to rest my hands on my lap or the table.

I'm amazed that Ninty haven't brought out a hardware update with a second stick. That's what I'm holding out for before I get one of these.

Why would they do that? No game could ever use it without excluding 42 million people with otherwise the same hardware. This isn't like Sony's dual-analogue, it's not a £15 upgrade.
