The DS Lite, GBASP and GBM are all 110-240.

They're not.

The DS Lite, GBASP and GBM are all 110-240.

I've checked my UK chargers and this is what they say:

GBA SP/DS:

PRI.: 230V 50Hz

SEC.: 5.2V 320mA

DS Lite:

PRI.: 230V 50Hz

SEC.: 5.2V 450mA

GBA Micro:

PRI.: 230V 50Hz

SEC.: 5.2V 320mA

3DS/3DS XL/DSi/DSi XL:

PRI.: 230V 50Hz

SEC.: 4.6V 900mA

I imported a new Japanese Pikachu edition GBA SP years ago that I use with a UK charger, I've just checked it's original charger:

INPUT:AC120V 60Hz 4W

OUTPUT:DC5.2V 320mA

So according to the labels they are not 110 to 240.

^^ I wonder if they are but don't say, which would be even more idiotic.

Pretty relieved, at least I have a UK charger now for the one time a year I come back

I solved the problem with a USB lead, I've got plenty of multivoltage usb wall plugs, even the iPad one will do.

Re Fire Emblem:

Oh you have no idea.

It's brilliant isn't it? I'm playing on the easy setting (and with permadeath off) but thoroughly enjoying it all the same. Right now my plan is to play it again later at a higher difficulty and with permadeath on. Does this make sense, am I spoiling it for myself this way, would I be better off starting again now with higher settings?

Not at all. That's exactly how I did it. I've played games like it before, but the nuances of Fire Emblem take a while to really get used to. It was half way through my second play through that I really began to appreciate the partner system. And of course you get a feel for the characters.

Not to mention the fact that on the next difficulty setting, with permadeath on, you really see stages play out in a completely different way.

The 3ds battery is just woeful. I've just got the flashing lights too, was looking forward to more bravely default but that's that scuppered. :(

The fact that the vita can still pack a decent battery only shows up how fucking atrocious Nintendos decision was with the 3ds.

The thing with permadeath in FE is that if I lose a couple of units (or one really good one/character I like) I restart the whole mission anyway. This means the game has lasted a long, long time for me, but can be slightly frustrating. I LIKE frustration but it isn't for everyone. The gameplay is so strong that replaying a mission 30 times until you beat it doesn't actually get boring anyway.

My Vita comfortably beats the 3DS battery both running and in standby mode. It feels like my 3DS battery is drained every time I turn it on.

It is being drained if you've got spotpass or streetpass enabled.

What really bothers me about the Vita is that I can't just put it in standby and charge it from USB - you need to completely turn it off. I've got and Anker external battery and usually when I'm not using my 3DS I just plug it into that, so it's always got pretty much a full charge. They've fixed it for the new Vita model, I think.

It's more the fact that the vita battery is pushing that goliath of a chipset of the vitas and still getting a comparable time.

The 3DS has two screens, one of which is 3D.

Look for a Pisen USB adaptor for the Vita, it convinces the Vita that any source is its "real" charger, not just the official mains adaptor and battery pack.

Edit - The Pisen ones seem to have vanished off the face of the Earth, there's one by PortaPow on eBay though.

(Just search for "Pisen Vita", it used to be on Amazon but it's gone now. The Amazon US one is here: http://www.amazon.com/battery-adapter-converter-Playstation-PS-Fastening/dp/B007Y3L5RI)

Oh cool, I had no idea that existed. Thanks.

Yeah, it's really dumb. On every other device, it's the device that tells the charger "I want more juice". On the Vita the charger has to short the data lines in a certain way to tell the Vita "I can give you more juice". Apparently it will charge over USB despite there being no indicator - there's a menu option for this - but at a snail's pace, and you've just got to watch the battery meter and hope.

I would definitely play on normal with permadeath on. That's playing the game how it was meant IMO.

IYWO! Hard mode, permadeath on ! Give it a go. Youre not supposed to be enjoying it.

I'm normal and perma death... All part of the circle of life

Sorry but its really not Fire Emblem without permadeath

You're being given the enviable ability to LITERALLY TURN OFF DEATH, to live forever! Why the hell wouldn't you do it? I bet you'd choose ready salted over cheese and onion too, numpties.

That's pretty stupid. I never noticed it as I always charge from the wall plug adapter thingie.

Actually it's bollocks - I never charge my Vita from the wall, and never turn it off. Computer happily charges it, you just need USB 2.0 downstream charging ports on your PC (i.e. a post-2007 PC) to push through more than a trickle charge. It'll still work with the other kinds of USB port, just much more slowly (because a 100 mA limit isn't great for charging).

You'll get up to 500mA over USB normally, but it can pull three times that if it thinks it's connected to the mains charger or external battery. That can happen without the adaptor of course, but it seems hugely variable. Works with my laptop's USB ports when the laptop's turned off, but not when it's switched on, for instance.
