Nintendo 3DS

So um.. how are you supposed to find your friends in miiverse?? I'd of thought as your current friends apply the update that they'd be automatically added as friends in miiverse??

Okay, if you click on the smiley face icon in the centre of the Miiverse app buttons, you can see your activity feed. That'll show all posts by people you follow. I guess they haven't integrated friends with Miiverse (which makes sense given initially it was separate on the Wii U) so you'll have to follow people by clicking on your Mii icon in Miiverse and 'search for users'.

It's not that bad running on the 3DS, actually.

Awkward doesn't really cover it. They expect you to write down 100 friend codes and then enter them into Miiverse, that's fucked up. Computers exist for a reason y'know Nintendo..

You don't search for friend codes, you search for NNIDs.

Oh, how do I find the NNIDs of friends on my friends list then? Sorry perhaps I'm missing something very obvious here!

You're not. NNIDs are separate to friend codes. I don't think this firmware update integrated the two, like on the Wii U. So you need to add people separately to Miiverse all over again - and I think even then, on the 3DS you can't 'friend' someone, you only follow.

Think of it like Twitter on the 3DS for Nintendo games.

It works fine once you've started to follow people. The Wii U is more robust simply because they planned for Miiverse to be on it. In fairness to Nintendo, their glacial updates do tend to fix things so you can expect a much better experience but in 6 months or so.

I do get what you're saying but equally it shouldn't have been that hard for Nintendo to get something like this ready on release. I mean, you're already tying your 3ds (along with its friend code) to your nnid so why can't they have just gone through your friend list and allowed you to do an auto add or something? I'm tired myself of moaning at Nintendo but they are just constantly  it's no wonder people get fed up.

At this point I hold my hands up and say "I have no idea". You'd think it would be that simple but given that Nintendo managed to launch the Wii U with two different methods of adding friends (codes and IDs) then it's about par for the course.

It's a shame because I do think Miiverse is actually pretty awesome... they've raised it to a new level with the stamps idea they implemented in Mario 3D World, and when it works well, it's a much better 'community' than those on other platforms.

No more limit on system transfers. Baby steps to proper accounts, I guess.

Also holy SHIT, they changed it so you have to press both shoulder buttons together to launch the camera now. Best patch.

Oh gawd, that fookin camera grrrr.... best patch ever indeed.

Stamps are the new Miis.

I find it just incredible that it's been ELEVEN FUCKING YEARS since the introduction of Xbox Live, and that Nintendo still hasn't managed to get even the basics right in that time.

And still the wod keeps turning. Almost like it's not worth getting angry or annoyed at it, isn't it?

Yeah, you could probably say that about anything as long as you're not terminally ill or dying from starvation.

Pisses me off no end nonetheless. I want it to be good. It can be good. Why are they so fucking shit in this regard?

Because Nintendo.

Update for Streetpass available! Woo-hoo let's do this. But it ain't working just like the eShop ain't working. That's really cool, sending a notification out for an update which isn't possible. Now let's try the eShop again. Nope, still broken.

Nintendo... you are SHIT at anything not involving pure gameplay.

They did, and it is genius the way they've done it - you have both 360 style "open" friends and Wii style "safe" friends. It's brilliant.
