Nintendo 3DS

The cradle was the best purchase I've made for my 3DS. It's by my alarm clock and popping it into place every night is as natural and easy as anything. Especially compared to the iPad and phone dance I then have to do.

I'ld say it is the main reason to get a WiiU premium too.

That was an amazon black friday lightning deal. They usually go for about 140 quid with no games.

Still some left

I tried the link but it changes back to its original price of around £187 or so. I'd seen one on it's own for around £130 or so new from Amazon last night but without games. Forgot all about the deals week thing.

Although I just spotted the Bargain thread then and saw to ignore the current price. Will look into it anyway cheers.

I just bought a 3DS XL with Mario Kart 7 for 129.99 from amazon. Hopefully should also bag me Mario Land 3D for free. I'm also going to buy Zelda.

Pos me for making a really good decision people.

If I used the post voting system at all it'd be to neg you, as you've just cost me £170 I haven't got (for this, an adapter - most amazing omission from a console ever - and obvs A Link Between Worlds, without which the system would be almost as pointless* as it would without the adapter).

Bast. Good deal though.

* Not to be taken literally, fans of literal things: obviously other games are available for the system. It's just, like, who'd buy a 3DS console and not buy this game?

Bought the Mario Kart bundle for my daughter for christmas. Where is the cheapest place to get Animal Crossing digital copy from? Game have it for £28 what does it cost on the eShop? Do anyone else sell the digital versions?

I'm surprised you can't play old games like A Link To The Past on a 3DS. That's a shame. I've never played it and I really would like to.

Can someone run me through the top games on the system?

I'm awaiting mine in the post but I'm looking forward to just off the top of my head:

Mario Land 3D

Zelda (the new one)

Mario Kart 7

Pokemon X/Y

Bravely Default

NSMB 2

Luigis Mansion 2

P.Wright - the new one

SMT IV

Ghost Recon (because you can pick it up for four quid)

Mario and Luigi Dream Team

Fire Emblem

Kid Icarus

There are others like animal crossing etc, but not so interested in them

It's maybe kind of sad, but the thing I'm most looking forward to playing once I've done Super Mario 3D Land and the new/old Zelda, is... Ocarina, again. Of everything that's ever been out for the 3DS, from day one that's always been the one thing that tugged at me, saying 'you can't not play me.' And now I scan the release lists and look at all the highest-rated games, that's the one that springs out at me still. I know, I know: it's basically the same as the N64 version, no extras or anything (unless you count the 3D and other visual stuff), but the fact that it's portable and not smeared so much in N64 vaseline is enough; though I suspect I'll miss some of the N64's gloomier lighting effects. I have an Ocarina-shaped hole in my heart that's filled to the brim with the purest essence of nostalgia, and it longs without cease to be filled. I'll always have an Ocarina-shaped hole there. If they released that game on every new Nintendo console until the end of time, I'd buy every one of them at some point, and I'd always look forward to playing yet another update of Ocarina on it perhaps more than I'd ever look forward to anything else. It's a simple as that, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

So yeah, Smitty, if you buy a 3DS, buy Ocarina. It's as simple as that.

Yeah, Nintendo never seem to do the obvious or simple.

Since folk were asking about good 3DS games, worth mentioning some of the hidden gems that are eshop-only. I strongly recommend Steamworld Dig. Starts a little slow, and doesn't really give much of a sense of what the game actually is and why you should keep playing it. Stick with it for a little while though and it soon reveals itself to be a very fun and addictive mining-exploration-occasionalpuzzle-platformer. It gets quite challenging. It is very similar to Miner Dig Deep, the Xbox Indie Game, if anyone played that. This is blended with a touch of Metroid and most especially Dark Souls. It borrows from DS in a few ways - the subtle but satisfying sense of progression, its almost-identical death-punishment mechanic and also the way the game doesn't really explain some things, leaving it to the player to work out. I thought I had reached the bottom of the world and wasn't sure what was going on, but some random tapping of walls revealed a whole new world beyond!

It doesn't do anything particularly original but it combines those influences in an interesting way. Cool game. It's getting a PC port and a sequel, can't wait for the latter to see the same idea refined - would like to see the do something worthwhile with the completely superfluous town that really just serves as your base/item shop.

It also doesn't do GBA games apart from those ambassador games.

I'm amazed they haven't got LTTP on the eShop to coincide with Link Between Worlds. Veterans wouldn't be able to resist (or at least I wouldn't) and there's a whole new audience curious about the references in new Zelda reviews to buy it.

Ghost Recon (because you can pick it up for four quid)

Yeah, I bought a copy of this cheap, despite not having a 3DS, because I just knew I'd get one, sometime. Took me longer than I thought, mind.

A new Zelda, Phoenix Wright and the Amazon Mario Kart deal makes the purchase a no-brainer.

Thanks for the list - another Mario & Luigi game is a huge incentive. Maybe the Etrian Odyssey for 3ds - anyone know if it's any good?

Any older games worth a punt?

I have all these great DS games and all I ever actually use the thing for is the Streetpass games. Seriously, now that they've upped the amount of hits you get from relays, it's a full-time job just clearing them. I don't even bother with Streetpass Squad a lot of the time (already finished it once so I'm just going for treasure and no-casualties) but even then, it's like half an hour to get through the other games with a full roster.
