Nintendo 3DS

I just got a 3DS XL and I'm a bit worried about the hinge. On my old DS lite the hinge locks and then is pretty solidly in place, but on the XL there is a bit of loose wobble. Not too much to make it unplayable, but its definitely noticeable. Is this normal/a known issue? I'm worried it will get worse over time or suddenly break one day

Strange thing happened the other day. My girlfriend and I did a bit of shopping at Bluewater with our 3DSes in her handbag. Got home and we both had 10 Streetpass hits - but each of us had 10 completely different people (well, 9, as we got each other). No overlap at all.

How does that work when both consoles were obviously in receiving range of the same other Streetpassers at the same time? I'd have expected us both to hit the same 10 and then cap out.

Maybe it was thon StreetPass relays at Nintendo Zone hotspots? They send you the data of the last 3DS to pass while storing yours, so only one of you would receive it.

I heard that some of those relays in McDonalds in the US have started giving out a maximum of six Miis per StreetPass? Dunno if that happens here, though.

Don't you get hits from WiFi hot-spots these days? So you both passed one of those, she got the first 9, you the next 9 if there are a few in the list. I'll admit I don't know if that's how the WiFi Spotpass works.

EDIT: Beaten to it

Ah, that'll be it. Bluewater's got crap mobile coverage so the whole centre has free O2 wifi - and O2 wifi hotspots are all Streetpass relay points.

It was my understanding that the Streetpass relay thing doesn't actually store up a queue of Streetpassers, it just keeps one at a time so you're always swapping it for the last person who was in range. That would still make sense though - if there are 20 3DSes in the building then it should just keep swapping them in and out, I guess.

Phoenix Wright DLC tomorrow, remember.

It makes sense and would explain the upswing in hits. Shame they haven't increased the cap from 10. Even 12 would be better, then you could pass two O2 spots without wasting hits.

I know, first world problems, gift horse/mouth etc.

I wish they'd let you get more coins per day. I easily hit at least 4000 steps a day but only the first 1000 net me anything. And a limit of 300 "in the bank" is a pain too.

And why can't I send my walking data to Wii Fit U? Rant moan rant.

They updated it in the UK last week so that we supposedly get the last six people from each relay point now like they do in the US.

I wandered about Glasgow all day on Monday and got one, step up your fucking game people.

I'll try and arrange to pass you in the street sometime next week.

Which, I understand, are the arcade versions not the MD versions. Tempted by Space Harrier.

Have to look up Super Hang-On, but Space Harrier is definitely the arcade version - the Mega Drive got Space Harrier 2 rather than the original Space Harrier, anyway. Happened to be the MD's headline launch title, believe it or not.

I know they want to sell you a fitmeter but yeah, you really should be able to just transmit (using spotpass or something, let alone wi-fi) your steps from the 3DS.

I've also realised I have some sort of Picross problem. I've played the previous games so much (and was still firing up e1 & 2 up to this week to shave times off my completion times) that on playing normal mode of e3, the first page of 15x15 I don't think I've taken any longer than 4 minutes at the very max to do a single puzzle, with all hints off

Thing is, I enjoy playing it so I don't want to skip any of the puzzles, even the 10x10s, which are almost not worth it, so I can't bring myself to jump straight to the extra mode or anything.

I wish they'd do a 3D one though, that one on the DS was quality.

Using infra-red! That's how the fit meter works anyway!

There you go, another possible way of doing it, it's not like there aren't options.

It's also a bit weird that you can't enter previous days' steps in WiiFitU - I presume it's to ensure the daily logging in and not cheating by saying you do 20bajillion steps every day for the last two years or whatever but it's a bit odd.

Wish there was a video player for the 3dsxl, it be nice to watch videos in bed with it.

There is a Netflix app in the US actually, I can only guess that perhaps it isn't available here because Netflix isn't available in all the European countries Nintendo is. But then there is a Netflix app on Wii (and Wii U?) .

I wouldn't use it as the screen is rubbish compared to my tablet (and when I don't have that my phone) but for kids it would be a really good feature.

I think the "last 6 streetpassers" update is now up and running. I managed to get 6 today all at the same time, then another 4 a few minutes later when I walked somewhere else and maxed out my counter. Strange thing was, the mix was a lot more than usual, mostly english, welsh and irish, not the usual bunch from scotland.

I got 10 StreetPass hits just now on the way back from work and there were definitely more english, northern irish, american and japanese Miis than I'd normally expect. Unless Glasgow is the new hot tourist destination for November. Are the relays giving Miis from other parts of the world too (I know that some NeoGAF users have spoofed this on their home networks) or is it just coincidence?
