Dark Souls II - Prepare to Die, Again

I need to get a cheap PS3 so I can play Demon Souls I think - does it still hold up though? I sort of imagine it would feel pretty rough round the edges these days, but maybe not.

Oh my god, get it. Get it now. It's the best of the three. It's not rough around the edges at all. It looks and plays just as well as the others - same generation and all. This is rather self-referencing and solipsistic and lazy of me, but check out my short love letter to the game in the Demon's Souls thread. Then plaaaaay iiiiiiit.

i was thinking about demons the other day, an was tyhinking a level like 3-1, with DaS2 style bonfires, there would be at least two during that level, if not three!... i may go boot up demos lol

I was exploring last night and tried out the Summon symbol, resulting in Mortis making a new friend with a bloody great big sword.

For half an hour we ran about the old castle and hammered all before us into dust!

I followed my new Knight buddy into some fog and this bloody great big levitating nut job with Cylon lights in his face floated down and started to attack us - after a tense and crazy battle we defeated the insane git but it was close. My Mace of much facesmashing broke and I exhausted all my throwing knifes.

My new friend and I both did the "take a knee and shout to the Gods!" stance to celebrate and then...then he vanished.

Mortis was all alone. Again.

(I'm rather enjoying this game)

Whoa. Is that really from the PC version? How do they do that - is it really just lighting that's making such a big difference to how it looks?

Also, why are random individuals on the internet doing stuff for free in their spare time better at making Dark Souls for the PC than the people who actually work for From?

That's a bit disingenuous. From did make the whole game, these guys (while commendable ) are basically just doing graphics filtering stuff on top of the engine.

Fuck 'em. I say sack those lazy jokers at From Software, and replace them with random modders from the internet. It worked for Ion Storm, it'll work here.

Too Dark Souls is right, those of us who got up early for the beta, remember the Copse? It was like how The Gutter is now. You basically had to play shieldless with a torch.

I'm glad they changed it.

Just installed it, basically makes everything an awful lot darker and amplifies the effect of light sources, which I guess makes it closer to the pre-release standard.

Not sure about it really. Just ran around Huntsman's Copse and it looks muddy as fuck everywhere, it knocks the framerate down, and the Skeleton Lords pyromancies look like this:

So, yeah. I'll try later with DOF turned off as I think that's contributing to the muddiness and hurting FPS, but so far I am not convinced it's any better than the vanilla version. It's just different.

Does look nice when you rest at a bonfire, though.

If anybody still has the original release of GeDoSaTo would they mind uploading it somewhere? It's been removed from Durante's blog and the latest build I just downloaded refuses to work for me, and I don't think I'm doing anything differently. I deleted the old zip file before trying the new one out.

Pvp session tonight, awesome.

Got summoned into 3 guys, obviously gankers, but honorable ones. Host with gimp mask and trous, and two naked green bald fattys both called shreck, dual cestus both.

Poison caestus interests me greatly for p&p, you can get so many hits in so quickly.

I've pretty much sacked off the second half of the game for now, can't remember having so much fun with online shenanigans in any other game...

Haha, glad you're enjoying Charley, it's great fun, isn't it?

...

This weapon durability stuff is fucking bollocks now that I'm using an ultra Greatsword, it's degrading so fast it's unreal. I would sometimes be at 50% durability after just killing the dogs outside McDuff's bonfire, ffs. It seems to go down a lot faster if you hit / kill multiple enemies at once, too.

I was hanging around the Ruin Sentinels for bro op (had great fun, the redeye ring makes thing interesting for sure!) and sometimes after doing the boss I'd have lost about 10% durability, others 90%! Fuck man. So annoying.

Thing is I used an ultra Greatsword on my first ng+ character (ps3), never noticed the degradation being this severe.

Sadface.

I look like Velstadt powerstancing a Great Club +10 and a Large Club 10. Not the armor I am happy with, I need something more "brutal". Or more modern looking Greathammers. I like the look of the Grym Greathammer, nothing more than an anvil chained to a pole.

I did some bro-op earlier with someone using the Demon's Great Hammer, looked beast. I'm hoping for one from snuggly!

Just been watching back some footage I captured of the Ruin Sentinels fight.. It's so fucking random. I'm going to cut together a video when I get some time.

From need to fix this shit.

No I have no idea where these are. I thought I'd explored everywhere I could after the last giant, beat the pursuer, get birdy lifted to lost bastille

There's another route you can try from Majula. The enemies within are a bit easier than the ones at the Bastille, so you may want to to check it out to help prepare you a bit more for the Bastille. :)

Somebody did that to me a few days ago. They somehow critted me from the front - it was like being backstabbed, but in the front. Is this hacking? I wasn't aware you could do that.

Also how do you duel wield at the same time? You only seem to be able to swing once weapon at once, which kind of defeats the purpose of the class.
