Dark Souls II - Prepare to Die, Again

It's the same on consoles (hitting dead bodies).

I've just had a lot more unexplainable degradation situations on the PC version - almost like certain areas (of the map) are worse than others.

Do you mean just as they're falling down immediately after killing them? I couldn't seem to manage to hit corpses on the floor (or at least it didn't seem to cause the crazy durability loss).

I started having it last night. Most noticeable when you take swings after you've killed something. My bastard sword was lasting the run from the first bonfire at Heides until the boss. Then it would break.

Is it perhaps tied to framerate? It happens on the 360 as well if you take an extra hit at something once it's "dying", but nowhere near as badly.

Also, here's a zip with my modified stat / menu textures. Please be aware that there may be some problems that I've not yet seen, I only did a very short test!

You should be able to extract the zip straight into the GeDoSaTo folder.

You then need to change a line in the ini - can't remember exactly, the line you need to change is something like 'enableTextureOverride'. Needs to be 'true'!

Edit, wait, I got the path wrong, will re-upload in a sec.

Edit 2: sorted! export straight into GeDoSaTo folder! :)

..and actually, how do you know the boss name if you've not yet beaten the Phantom? :P

I did beat him. Took several runs to get back to him, he cheesed me a few times. Must have done that run 20 times? A lot of the earlier guys aren't spawning.

I was trying to shoot him from the bridge and I was aiming my bow, and I said to my gf, that sounds like there's a baddie coming but I'm sure I killed all the guys on the way, then I just got smashed with his greatsword and shrieked like a girl! Beat him that time. Clubbed his bonce off.

Then got instantly killed by the Ben Hur spikes.

Ooh, can't wait to test the new icons. Nice one Dood!

And I am sorry for being grumpy yesterday. No Man's Wharf is awful at the best of times, but when the weapons are all breaking it's crap. Once you get past there it's a lot better.

Thinking about it, there are very few attacks which actually hit the floor. lol! I'm on about a 2H Halberd or Hammer type animation that definitely does.

I've not tried it during the enemy's death throes.

Yeah but those stupid spiders :(

I don't like levels with houses in, it detracts from the desolate loneliness to me. Ancient cities, cool! Houses with drunk pirates in, nah :D

I also loved the seaside sword bit in FoFG. Properly desolate.

Steam has been really flaky the past 24 hours, seems to be a regular occurrence at the moment.

Can you only be invaded when you're human (apart from AI phantoms)?

Someone called INSAANE just invaded me, I was pretty sure I was hollow. They couldn't find me for about 40 minutes (I was selling all my shite to the drunk dwarf) but I couldn't use any bonfires or bones etc to get back, which was annoying. Eventually he found me and killed me in one hit and then just stood motionless for a while. Bit weird, but I'm sure I'm missing something this time.

More exaggeration? I'm pretty sure invasions end in a stalemate after about 10-15 mins, man.

And yes, you can be invaded at any time now. Being hollow makes no difference.

So, proactively engaged in some PVP last night for the first time...

Hung around Belfry Sol to get invaded, man it was so much fun. Most guys were properly polite, let me clear out the little munchkin types before kicking off and a few even waited patiently while I fought off the first invader rather then just piling in 2v1. It was so exciting, easily the most fun I've had with the game.

Then SunBro'd myself up to the Sun Sword helping people with the Earthen Peak boss. Awesome.

Any suggestions for getting some good PVP action? I kind of want to have some 'honourable' 1v1 type of fights rather than invading. or having to fight off multiple people in the belfrys. What say you RLLMUK?

Edit: Hmmm, from a quick scan of the Wiki it would appear being a Bell keeper is the best bet as I get Chunks for invasions and for summoning fights I'm looking for the dragon summon signs. Anyone know if there is a place where the dragon PVPers hang out? Like dragon dogging or something?

Blue Sentinels don't get much action from what I've read in this thread? World is a bit short on invaders yes?

@ mentazm : yeah it's down for me too.

@ charley : as df0 says, iron keep Bridge is everyone's fave place to pvp. If you use a red summon sign you be invading in seconds! Well, at peak times anyway. It's also safe to use the red sign, you won't lose souls or humanity. (you have to be human to use the red stone)

Cheers Dood. Sorry, when you say there use a red summon sign you mean when I summon the invader into my world?

And when you say I have to be human to use the red stone, you mean when I'm laying a red invasion invitation?

As I'm not brilliant at the game, especially pvp, won't I be burning through Effigys really quickly if I have to be human to invade, then get killed and go hollow, or do you remain in human from in your own world even if you get killed as a red phantom?

What the deal with getting invaded by other mans, then. I've got approaching 30 hours of playtime and not a single invasion yet (outside of the rat/bell areas). Not that I'm complaining, as I've never really liked the pvp, but still.

As far as I'm aware there is a bit of a shortage of cracked red eye orbs, so the number of invaders is low until NG+ when they can be purchased.

I've been invaded one solitary time in my combined 90 or so hours on PS3 and PC.

not sure how this works but i think you can trade items in the game by leaving them on the ground in co-op right? i have 2 Demon's Great Hammers because i've been trying to get the Old Whip from Dyna & Tillo. i'm level 205 and on PS3, if anyone has the whip and wants one of my hammers let me know.

if you use a red sign someone else has left, you can of course, lose your humanity.

If you place a red sign yourself, and are summoned as a red phantom, you won't lose anything if you die. So yeah, placing your own red sign is the way forward. Sometimes you'll get ganked, but it's actually quite fun to try and beat three people.. especially when you win! :D

And as for invades, yeah on NG I only had a few, but they were more common on NG+, and once you hit level ~150

Since online was down I thought I'd start my Pursuer v2 build I've been daydreaming of cosplaying :D

I *LOVE* how hideous the characters become if you press 'random' about 50 times..

..even better when hollow!

Anyway, now got the most important part of the look down..

Next stop, Pursuer, unlock Straid asap, then ascetic to get another Pursuer soul. By then should have sufficient stats for sword and shield combo.
