Also having real problems with this dude. What kind of char are you playing? Would be grateful of any tips you can offer.

I'm essentially melee with a bit of pyromancy thrown in. Rocking Blacksteel Katana and Tower Shield +10 along with Dark Pyromancy +10. This is NG+ mind so dno if owt is different apart from health + damage.

still weaker than Havel's though. i'm bored of my guy wearing this shit. i summed two other guys earlier and we all had it on, was like going to a party and someone's wearing the same shirt.

Then change it up man!

Fashion souls is where it's at. Pick a look and go for it :D

Ok so I was up at stupid o clock this morning unable to go back to sleep. Couldn't be arsed playing but mucked about some more with those icons as I mentioned yesterday. Looking good so far!!

I'm slightly worried though as I think I'm going ot have broken transparency on a bunch of stuff. For the majority of the icons it's fine as they are in a single texture by themselves:

post-665-0-65582300-1399013829.png

But then the others are all dotted all over the shop!! Like this:

I have no idea what those massive orange highlights are used for, but will keep an eye out tonight for any problems. The texture dump on GeDoSaTo doesn't bring over transparency properly, there may be a way around it though. After first updating this texture I had all these big black blocks everywhere!! :( So I had to just delete all the extra black, which is a cowboy solution at best, but seems to work ok for now. Ha.

In a bit I'll upload the .pngs for fellow PC bros to try, if they wish :)

Oh AND! I did a tiny bit more research into the durability thing. Curtis had already done this, but I missed it, and lots of people are suffering:

Just be careful of hitting enemies after they die (i.e. during their keeling over animation). It's ludicrous, but hitting enemies as they fall over degrades durability REALLY REALLY fast. Easy to test yourself on the big knights at Heide's, and it seems to affect some weapons more than others (i.e. halberds degrade mega fast, in about 4 or five hits!).

So stop windmilling, if you keep having weapons break. It's gotta be a bug. I'll try capture a little video tonight to show it and tweet it all over namco's / from's / the dark souls youtubers' faces.

Curtis will confirm, but I'm not sure if this affects console version as well as PC. I'd be surprised if it didn't, but stranger things have happened!

So if you add them can you remove

Them if you don't like them?

They look good, but as you say they may cause problems later. Good work though man, I think the icons are awful in this.

That run up to Executioner's Chariot is fucking amazing. Love the shredders standing on the poles waiting for you. I nailed them all first time and then ran across the Bridge and fell off :(

Then it took me about ten attempts to even get a shot at the phantom at the end of the bridge.

This is Dark Souls. It's proper scary.

I was STR/VIG based, but ended up not even using my sword. Pyromancy only. Equipped my +10 pyro glove and used Great Combustion, Flame Swathe and Firestorm.

Yeah the way they work with the downsampling tool is you put them in a folder called 'override' and change a setting in the .ini to 'true' and that's it! if you want to stop, just change the line back to 'false'. You don't overwrite any actual game files :)

And man, that bridge. Caught me out the first time too. And then doing coop runs along there, the amount of hosts that would just fall. Or run straight into the ambush. Need humanity.

My example was given before I encountered any enemies, just those statue things (which didn't cause any significant durability loss on the run before or after)

I imagine hitting a dead body whilst suffering the bug (or whatever it is) would be disastrous to your durability. Would certainly explain how I broke five weapons in 15 mins when I first started playing.

Going to put some serious time in today, I'd record the whole lot just for proof if it happened, but shadowplay doesn't seem to like Dark Souls 2.

Did my first bit of PVP last night after joining Bellbros. Was surprised i managed to fight off 2 double invasions successfully (ive never been one for PVP, i just like bro-op). I stood at the side of the door to the belfry on the bridge, the guys approached the door and tried to swing for me but it rebounded off the door frame so i stepped out and bet the shite out of one of them  Next guy i just tackled on the bridge itself, i managed to get in enough swings that it just pushed him back off the bridge.

Still 1v1 fights generally get me far too wound up so ill probably not do too much PVP. Tho i do like getting summoned by a bellbro if its a 2 on 2 fight as that usually makes it a bit less stressful. Helped a few people beat the gargoyles too. Good times

Ha, good stuff. I'm slowly getting better and really quite into the coop now!

Had a great match up against the same guy twice.. Gutted that we were interrupted during the first match (bloody bell bros!) but the second match was SO TENSE!

Love this game. Fought a few guys dual wielding whips, and by golly it had me stumped as to how to approach them. The range on them is ridiculous, and a poison m bleed combo with particular whips is just brutal. Very cool. I need a quick ranged option, what's fastest? Throwing knives? Bow? Crossbow? Hmmm.

Mate I dunno Wtf is going on with your game. I was just reporting on my findings. I've never had the weird issues you're getting.

Have you made another character to see if somehow that's related?

Are you supposed to be able to see the green stuff coming out of the fucking horrendous bit of game design that is the poison statues? They have zero animation so all I seem to see is the splash as poison hits me from no particular direction. Occasionally I see a tiny green sprite appear out of nowhere and sail past me but also somehow hit me anyway. Is there some trick to working out which ones can spit at you or are you just supposed to guess like everything else in this misfiring game?

Morrius has become his alter ego Captain Exaggeration! Fear his powers of massively blowing tiny things out of all proportion to the point of hyperbolic hysteria!

Those things have faces. If those faces are pointed at you then they can hit you. If they aren't then they can't hit you.

I can stand in front of most of them and they don't do anything? I'm looking at one with his stupid green eyes pointed right at me and he's not doing anything?

You can't really run through because the twilight princess monsters appear and you get sucked into their first instakill attack if you don't roll back. Then the worm things appear and block your path

Poor design choices? If you don't have the mental aptitude to work out that those statues:

a) shoot in the direction they're facing, and

b) are triggered to shoot when you run past their line of sight, and

c) will only fire once, until you run past their line of sight again

..then maybe this ain't the game for you.

:P

It's the same on consoles (hitting dead bodies).

I've just had a lot more unexplainable degradation situations on the PC version - almost like certain areas (of the map) are worse than others.
