Dark Souls II - Prepare to Die, Again

In my bid for a bit of extra poison resistance, I've somehow ended up looking like a serial killer sexdoll :(

Pulled in 100k+ souls today, hit level 70. Playing a weird dex build with a sword and shield and lots of arrows. It's odd, but I always go for that combo with DS and it always seems to suit.

Bosses seem weirdly easy, soloed the covetous demon and it didn't even seem to try and hit me, just wiggled about like a fat shit while I killed it. Also did the scorpion woman tonight, just stood next to her tapping RB until she died

Guys, quick question for the PC lot:

Is cdkeys.com a reliable site? I ask as I want to buy the PC port Friday when I get paid (filthy pirate currently) as it runs surprisingly well on my system, and they have it for just under £24. Would like to know before I commit, due to my funds being limited and all.

And just to add more fuel to the stopping-levelling thing, take a look at the level distribution chart at the bottom right, here:

http://farfire.darksoulsii.com/pc/players/index.html

Far and away most players are over level 210.. So I won't be stopping any longer.

Nice. That's that cleared up then. I must just be unlucky I guess then with summons, reached Iron Keep now on NG+ and not seen a single summon sign.

Supposedly at over SM 12 million it caps off and you'll get paired with everyone else, so you might as well power level to SL 838 Havels.

Which, unfortunately seems to be the PVP meta this turn around.

210+ :/

I stopped levelling at 150 and I barge through NG+3 will all the ease in the world. Of course, I accept jolly coop at bosses. What is the point of 210+? Having every stat at 40? Being able to wield heavy melee weapons and cast high end spells?

Yeah, seems weird to just be an everything character. PvP is just going to get railroaded into the same cookie cutter nonsense as the first game methinks. I always enjoy it while playing through the game, but as an endgame experience it's just a bit shit.

Just checked my PC play through char's SM. It's 1.65 million at level 126 and 150k souls to spend. Pretty much nothing can stop me. Still not going to try the Ancient Dragon this time though.

...yes? Both of those things sound pretty cool. What's the point of being level 150?

for anyone who didn't know already, join the Sun Bro covenant and hand in 20 Sunlight Medals to receive the Sun Sword, which at +10 has A/A scaling in Strength and Dex, thrusting R2 attacks and is generally the coolest short sword i've seen in the game.

My favourite straight sword in the game, that

Ten more medals and you get sun spear which is the most godlike spell of all time.

I'm still really hesitant about raising my SL beyond 150 on my main, just because it makes the concept of 'builds' entirely redundant. The whole issue with SM has been the biggest gripe on the subreddit and Namco do have community managers who respond on that subreddit. I got the impression that the first major patch which focussed a lot on PvP was a direct response to balancing issues highlighted by the community. Maybe it is wishful thinking, but I do think there is a possibility that the next major patch could look at re-working SM - maybe something as simple as reverting to SL matchmaking on NG+ and beyond.

Ahhh I just don't want to level up, From change the matchmaking and then I have to slog through the whole thing again just to get a viable PvP build if I fancy doing organised PvP. It would be nice if Soul Vessels let you get rid of levels if you wanted to as well.

Why do you want a screenshot? It looks just like the usual level up screen, but it shows your current levels next to the respec levels.

Oh and you can always cancel before committing the respec, btw

Lightning is a faith spell Crispin, Sparkly blue is generally sorcery, black is hex and fire is pyro. makes a difference if you imbue a shield as to what it protects against.

Not seen many pyros come to think of it, just grabbed this from cdkeys on PC so I suppose that's what I'll go for for a first build having done Cleric, Dex and Mage on console.

My current build which is near the end of NG+ is probably my favourite so far. I'm SL175, but I spent a lot on VIT cause I'm wearing full Drakekeeper's set, which is very heavy. Other than that, I have a full set of Black Knight weapons, Drakekeeper Greatsword, Greataxe, Shield, and Greatshield. Plus the Resonant Hexes thrown in for good measure.

So a very dark, black knight.
