I didnt even realise there was a room after Freja until yesterday! Got a bit of a shock when I met that guy!

You will have no chance trying to beat him with ranged weapons, he is much too fast. If you are melee though, just let him attack a few times so you can see what his combos are, then attack a couple of times at the end of each combo, rinse and repeat.

He is optional, but definitely worth killing him :)

Isn't there a

primal bonfire in the same room as him? Not sure what primal bonfires are to be honest, but I thought I had to light them?

Can I swap covenants freely without repercussion?

Yes. You won't lose your progress in each covenant you leave.

Where's the best place to farm for:

Human Effigies?

Cash?

End game sun bro medals?

I need the human effigies for Dark Covenant shenanigans

Yes, and..... No. I thought you had to light them all as well, but I must have missed that one first time around? There is a bit in the game where you have to have either lit all of them, or done something else, I did the something else.

guys it's been over FOUR HOURS and no one has said that Vengarl has NO HEAD for combat

hahahahahahahahaha

ha

I am closing in on the platinum now! Just started NG++, having respecced to a Dex/Faith build with all those tasty katanas. This morning I remembered I have that blackbow in my item box, a shame I forgot to +10 it. My first run was pure strength, second run was glass cannon/pure magic (mainly hexes), and after hitting the platinum I am thinking about an Agdayne build, or the famed no-bonfire run.

DARK SOULS TWOOOOOOOOOOO

I've had the dogs drop effigies. There's a whole bunch of them near mcduff's bonfire.

No idea. Iron Keep is a good spot for raking in cash.

Hrmmm. Last few bosses, I'd wager.

To be honest you can easily get loads of coop done in NG+ in my experience, there was constant action at the first few bosses for me! That will earn you phat money and medals.

Depending what level you are and what your soul memory is, just about anywhere is ok for post-game sunbroing. I've been pulled into NG+ games on most maps. Ancient Dragon is a no-no because it's near impossible to beat in co-op, and Drangleic is a massive pain in the arse because it's invasion central. You get summoned in to kill the red dudes, arrive in the middle of a free-for-all with sentinels all over the place and the host invariably dies on you. They do on me anyway. Maybe I'm a rubbish sun bro. Drop your sign for the old souls and you should be fine.

Oh god just tried my second attempt, I never even got a look at the health bar the first time...I've got 40STR 37DEX and Bastard Sword +10 and I take off 22hp per hit, which doesn't even physically register on his health bar.

Threw a firebomb at him thinking "OK huge phys def, eat this!"

6hp.

Another Q, now I have that ring, I've opened Forest of Fallen Giants gate, and the forked road gate, I'm sure I've seen a third, where is it again, Drangleic?

UC spoilers.

Killed Vendricks bodyguard, do I need to kill Vendrick? Should I? I've got his ring and unlocked Aidas Keep.

He two hitted me and now I feel like I'm just gunning for the credits, maybe I'm burned out.

Completely optional. I can not remember what he drops upon death. He is good for a Achievement/Trophy when dead though.

He doesn't even drop a boss soul! But...

killing him lets you into a door in shrine of armana that has some cool stuff in

Another evening 3 bosses down

Rat Authority, Congregation and EXECUTIONERS FUCKING CHARIOT!

As far as I know got whatever is after Brightstone Cove and Iron Keep routes open.

Obvious question - if you light torches/lights - do they stay lit on Bonfiring?

You know what, this game is really starting to annoy and upset me.

I'm sure it's been discussed a thousand times since console release, but, why in the absolute fuck is this game punishing me for dying? I must've spent at least half my time playing just trying to get enough souls to buy a doll to get me back up to health. And there is a very limited supply of them. And the shop has ran out of stock, so I'm stuck at half health before a boss that can kill me in one attack.

Also I spent a few levels on intelligence on the hope that I could use some magic. But nobody even sells catalysts yet. There's the one I got as a pre-order bonus, but I lack the faith to use that properly, so it would seem I've wasted thousands of souls on a stat I can't even use.

So I'm going to have to start again.

And whose idea was it to make it so you can't even level yourself up, and you have to teleport to a person to do it? What is even the point?!

If you want to restore your humanity without using an effigy, drop your soapstone and help with a boss. Successful jolly cooperation will restore your humanity.

Also, you've missed a sorcerer's staff assumming you are more than a couple of hours in.

in the area after where you first met Pate in Forest of the Fallen Giants (where the door drops down behind you) there is a secret room at the bottom of the set of stairs on the right. Mash the X/A button against the wall and you'll find it

Drop your white soapstone and start doing coop. Coop rakes in the souls and if you finish a session successfully you become human again. Seriously, do coop.

Also - Being human + ring of life of protection = infinite humanity. You just need to repair the ring for 3000 souls but that's very cheap.

You also don't have to start again, you'll be fine. If you want to reallocate your points get a soul vessel and then go to one of the old ladies at the start of the game.

I can't kill pursuer.

What is power stance? Just another word for dual wielding?

The environments are amazing. Proper great.

Re Pursuer :

try right and then happiness

Re powerstance:

If you have at least 150% of the str/dex requirements for a pair of weapons, pressing and holding triangle/Y with both equipped will make your character shift stance.. In this powerstance the left shoulder and trigger buttons do new combo attacks that are pretty sweet. (If you don't meet the 150 % str/Dex requirements you'll just two hand the left slot)

Thanks :) I ran out of effigies on him. Also went straight to him from Last Giant and lost all my souls.

When you say 150%, is it 150% of the biggest str and dex requirement for the weapon pair, or the sum of the requirements for both weapons?
