Coolio. And the BluePeeps that turn up cus I'm a Blue Covenant thing? NPC or player? :P

I think I'm finally starting to understand this. After facerolling the Copse, decided to retry Sinner's Tower. Boss killed me within 4 seconds of entering :D

I'm a bit behind some of you here, but my character is finally looking rather smart. :)

This is great. The world isn't as interesting as DS1, although I haven't dived into the lore anywhere near as much, but it's still Dark Souls and it's still fantastic.

Ok. [Another] question. I'd always thought DS was "fair" - but are there situations where you can't escape/live?

I'd found a cave in the Copse that had some nice loot, but I had to drop down several bridges/ledges to get there - but there didn't seem to be any way to get out? Other than die (keeping the items but losing the souls) or the Bone Home.

(I decided to Bone Home just as someone invaded me. No idea where they invaded me, because it wasn't down the pit. Just saw a stream of Blue Sentinals slowly kill him while I stood in a isle in the middle of poison lake...alone in the dark...Bone Home disabled :()

There's a usable wall there, the room kind of leads to a part that makes you think there should be a door there, but it's illusory, so you need to know to press action at that precise point to open it.

Luck of the draw whether or not some kind soul left a message saying so, it's super dark down there iirc.

I am SOO close to beating

Ancient Dragon now. I've had him down to one hits worth of health 3 times now. I hate not being able too see his tail properly when he flies up. I've got my method now though so just need a touch of luck. Naked, stamina regen shield on back, Bastard Sword +10 two handed with gold pine resin. Cloranthy, Third Dragon, Red tear stone ring and ring of blades. He one shots me anyway so I reduce myself to a slither of health for the red tearstone ring buff. The approach is clear now though so I have to spend a few mins falling off ledges each time.

I'll do it though. I will....

Try "hide UI option in menu" and then hurrah for menu!

GeDoSaTo has a quick screenshot without UI button too, which is rather handy. It's numpad "/" by default.

I scraped through No-Man's Wharf right now. It had caused me quite a few deaths, and when I reached the boss it was with my trusty halberd broken and my bastard sword close to death too. I ended up having to switch weapons from the inventory mid-boss, which was terrifying, but I did it. :)

I'm still enjoying it, and have totally rinsed it over the past few days. The areas and new enemies are good, but the lore doesn't seem as engrossing as Demons or DS1 and the bosses on the whole haven't been orignal, just slightly modified versions of those seen in the previous games.

All bosses can be beaten by simply dodging and hacking away at them. Quite a let down really, I was expecting to have to employ different tactics for each.

I really like the ambient soundtrack though. The OST of the souls series have been amongst my favourite of any franchise in gaming, Demons Souls especially is superb.

This game is too easy. I've only struggled on one boss. There needs to be difficulty settings in the next game for veterans of the series.

Stick loads of that Bonfire Ascetic to strengthen enemies as well as join the champions covenant. Let's see you complain then :P

Cmon man I know you've said you 'rinsed it' but I want to know where you are, exactly? :)

Also I don't get your complaint about the bosses. Bar the previous shit ones like Dragon God or Bed of Chaos, the main combat strategy in Souls as a series is "bait, avoid, attack, repeat".. Not really sure why you were expecting anything different?

Agreed on the soundtrack though :) and on the lack of lore. Though to be fair I didn't even realise how good the lore in the last games were until getting into Epicnamebro and Vaati, etc.

One thing I think would improve this is making the torch unlimited; having it as a commodity makes you really reluctant to actually use it, and it makes the game look so much better. Not having a shield is enough of a handicap in itself without having to worry about running out of torch power.

I found that early on I was reluctant to use it. But once I had 30 mins stocked up I realised that there was no harm is just using it whenever I felt like it (and OCD lighting every sconce I could find, of course!).

This kind of reductionism is just daft. You could apply that to all the bosses and enemies from all the Souls games with the exception of the two bosses everyone complains about as they are shit (Dragon God and Bed of Chaos). You could just as well say that all you have to do to win at Street Fighter 4 is hit the other guy without getting hit too much.

AD is definitely the one boss where I found I had to plan ahead and equip myself specifically for the fight. I tried a bunch of different magic load-outs before I found one that worked well, but if all the bosses or even any of the mandatory ones) were like that, I think it would prove to be too much of a wall for 90% of the people playing this.

Playing it on my laptop until they fix the crashing issue.

There's definitely something wrong with the weapon durability. I broke a sword fighting two enemies.

Are you meeting the requirements for it? If you're not then that might have something to do with it.

I was wondering, for a Faith/Cleric build are any of the boss souls weapons much cop ? Tbh I'm very happy with my mace so far (and levelling it up) and thinking of just using them all for souls, looking at a list here I don't see anything that stands out at the minute....

Yes.

I burned a human effigy and that did nothing too.

Burning a Human Effigy prevents summoning/invading for an hour. Sort of offline basically.
