Nintendo Wii U

Well all set up! Quite painless really. All my Wii virtual console content I bought on the Wii has been moved over as have the savings etc. Also transferred over any remaining points I had which was nice.

The firmware update took around 45mins or so and online stuff was nice and smooth.

Love the nice touch of having Pikmin load up the data and blast of over to the Wii U when on the Wii. And when you go over to the Wii U the ship lands and the Pikmin unpack the data again... only Nintendo... :)

Anyway lovely machine so far impressed. Loving the fact that all my old content hasn't automatically become obsolete which is kind of a novelty when coming over from the other consoles.

Right have a meeting with that flying boss in Skyward Sword :D

Also think I've just sold the PS4 which is a bonus....

Some proper bloody scalpers on Amazon right now. £40-£150 for wind waker :(

Why? Jeez... Is it out of print or something? Have a copy on the GameCube along with Zelda OOT in a single pack. Along with a fairly rare copy of Twilight Princess for the GameCube...

I'm pondering a Wii U purchase, to transfer content from a Wii to a Wii U does the original Wii need to connect to the Internet. Just set the thing up again and it's not liking the router we're now using.

Yes it does. Had fun with getting the Wii U talking to my router tonight too...

Absolutely no router problems for me with the Wii U. WPA2 on an Airport Extreme, works a charm.

For those experiencing long update times, remember that first-party games will often have updates on the disc. Stick your most recent game in there and it'll run an update without downloading, which should get you over the fix-for-slow-updates hump.

Nintendo Land is infuriatingly brilliant. It just takes a few weeks of play, plus several multiplayer sessions, for you to get it.

Pikmin 3 is stunning

Deus Ex and Batman Arkham City are both well worth it, if you don't have them already.

I wasn't fussed about Zombi U, thought it was a bit shite to be honest.

Wonderful 101 was just too infuriating for me - not in a good way, just really frustrating.

Also make the most of the eShop sale - TNT racers, scram kitty, stick it to the man, 99 seconds, nanostray, all really good and pretty cheap at the moment. You can also get a load of Ubisoft stuff for cheap, like Assasins creed 4m but it's unbelievable how much space they take up - about 13gb each.

And I think disney infinity is still free, if you've got the pad thing and figures.

Irritatingly, Disney Infinity (1st one) is only free in North America. They have said that it will be free in other areas, but no idea when.

I've also noticed that the wii version of skylanders trap force has a free wii u download code in the box, and the wii version is £10 - £15 cheaper than the others.

We're in a Internet blackspot so we use Relish and their router which connects to a 4G network. also tried using my phone as a hotspot and it'll at least connect to that but then fails when it comes to downloading the firmware update. The wii doesn't even seem to have an ethernet connection so that option is out...

How do you know they've sent you a new machine? Sounds like it's the same one to me. It would be very bizarre to have the exact same problem on a different machine, I'd imagine.

I've no idea off hand - I didn't make a note of the serial number I sent back as it was filled in on the Nintendo webpage form.

I tried Sonic Racing tonight, lasted 2 laps around the Shinobi course before it said that disc was dirty/ damaged.

Mario Kart 8 is working okay - for now - but for some reason it's not letting me play online.

I think I'm going to be forced to pick up 2nd hand copies of Sonic and Mario 3D world to try them out and if they don't work return them...though if my last machine had trouble with immaculate brand new discs, but had no problem with skanky looking 2nd hand Wii discs, then I don't hold much hope...then get back to Nintendo about another pigging return of the machine. Bit cheesed off with it all, fills me with no desire to attempt to start playing some of the games I've got incase this fault develops some point through playing. Grrrr.

I think you can buy an Ethernet adapter thing....

What'so this talk about games going out of print?

I was just looking at games on Amazon and saw NSMBU was £17.99 (I have it) but NSLBU is £55! Any ideas where I can pick up a cheaper copy? Are these region free?

Also when will super Mario 3D world come down in price?

If I remember right I think the plan for NSLBU was to have a time limited physical run (to tie in with the year of Luigi) but to then leave it available as a digital download.

What the hell is going on with bayonetta2? Been playing it for several hours, easy mode, not died yet and am still on '1st climax'. How long is this game??

It's somewhere around 10-12 hours long. I thought it was bloody fantastic. I've got the first half of January off and definitely plan on replaying it.
