Nintendo Wii U

Just picked up Pikmin 3 from eBay for £30, which seemed a decent deal given the way prices are heading (I saw someone speculatively list one for £200 the other day).

Anyone know if any other Wii U titles are heading out of print? I'm generally in no rush to acquire the catalogue, but I don't want to have to pay silly prices.

I think quite a few are going to go that way - digital distribution (and a lack of retailer uptake) probably means that a lot of games will not be reprinted. donkey kong, need for speed, Luigi bros all seem like contenders at the moment.

Well picked up the new toy this afternoon.... still sat in the box at the moment!

Got Super Mario Bros U with it - be rude not not get at least one Mario game! Will be diving in and exploring a bit later on! :)

Get it set up pronto, if it needs a system update you will think it is running on PSN as it takes so long ;)

Okay, I've just sent off about £200 of trade-ins to Amazon, purely for WiiU games :)

I've already got smash bros, zombiu and mario kart. Will definitely get 3D world, but c'mon then, what's the best of the rest?

Is Nintendo Land worth the £10? Wii play worth £18? Toad? Preorder that racing game that's coming out? Wonderful 101?

What are your favourites and why should I buy them?

Took me a couple of hours on Christmas day.

Nintendo Land is infuriatingly brilliant. It just takes a few weeks of play, plus several multiplayer sessions, for you to get it.

Pikmin 3 is stunning

Deus Ex and Batman Arkham City are both well worth it, if you don't have them already.

I wasn't fussed about Zombi U, thought it was a bit shite to be honest.

Wonderful 101 was just too infuriating for me - not in a good way, just really frustrating.

Also make the most of the eShop sale - TNT racers, scram kitty, stick it to the man, 99 seconds, nanostray, all really good and pretty cheap at the moment. You can also get a load of Ubisoft stuff for cheap, like Assasins creed 4m but it's unbelievable how much space they take up - about 13gb each.

And I think disney infinity is still free, if you've got the pad thing and figures.

It's a bit fiddly with transfer channels to download for both consoles and lots of swapping of the SD card, but easy enough to do. You'll need to set aside a little bit of time to do it.

I thought it was dead easy, download the Wii U transfer app on the a Wii (available on the shop) and hit go. Think you need a bit of space on the SD. Takes about 20 mins, where you can watch pikmin transferring it from the Wii to the Wii U, which is really worth it.

It won't connect to the internet. Seems to be having issues with my BT homehub router for some reason.... everything else connects fine other than the Wii U grrrr. Same thing happened with the Wii years ago and I had to set the router to WEP to get the Wii to work. Thought this would be sorted now as the home hub is on version 5 and this is a new Ninty console... Garr. So cant update the firmware or anything at the moment don't really want to try setting the router to WEP because of all the devices currently connected up via WiFi. Sigh.

I had the same when i got the wii u - the fix is in the firmware update you need to download....

Mine was a virgin superhub conflict, just had to manually input some settings on the wifi and it worked; http://www.nintendoservicecentre.co.uk/support/wii-u/wii-u-manual-connection-setup

Now connected... had to reduce the security on my wireless network (again) due to Nintendo hardware.... jeez. Why are Ninty so behind the times with things its silly.

Had to go from WPA2 to WPA :(

Its downloading the update just going to leave it for now.... hopefully I'll be able to tinker with the settings again and make the network more secure once the update has finished.

I've been planning on picking up a PS4 for half a year now... so today I ordered one of these with smash instead. Bargain.

Good call. After a year of PS4 ownership its been dire. In fact I'll be selling mine on soon.

Sticking with XBO and Wii U. Plenty enough gaming for me there :)

Wii U makes a refreshing change from the other consoles TBH sure there is a bit of nostalgia there with Nintendo games and consoles but they are so much bloody fun there is no denying it! Think what triggered all this was the fun on Mario Kart I was having on the nippers 2DSs this Xmas.

Got a fifty quid Amazon voucher for Christmas which I just used to get Smash Bros. I've never played one of these, or even had an inkling to play one but the praise is so universal I couldn't resist. Plus the other titles I wanted, Hyrule Warriors and 3D World, seem to only be available through overpriced resellers at the moment.

I'm not sure whether to get Shovel Knight on wii u or 3ds. Google suggests 3ds has nice effects and everything but I do like big screen gaming when possible. That said, maybe the retro style looks better on 3ds. But then my eyes say go for bigger screen. Hmm.

Wii u gives you big and little screen gaming!

The Mario Kart 8 DLC is well worth it for the 2 new cups (i.e. an additional 8 tracks) alone. I'd also recommend shelling out for both DLC packs in one go, even though the second one won't be downloaded until May. You'll save yourself the price of a couple of pints if you just pay it all up front just now.

As for eShop currency, I just buy things directly from there using my debit card.
