Nintendo Wii U

Blimey, Ding Dong, that's quite the haul!

I picked up a MK8 Premium Pack this morning myself, brand new and only £180 through Gumtree, which I thought was too much of a bargain to miss out on. It's currently installing a (30 minute :( ) update, but I'm looking forward to getting stuck into MK8 in a bit.

I don't understand all this NNID stuff. I've got a 3DS and have bought lots of stuff on the eShop before, which suggests I've got something, somewhere that's allocated to me, my transaction history and so on, but when I go to 'NNID settings' on the 3DS it says stuff along the lines of 'Create your NNID now', which suggests that I haven't got one. I don't mind creating one but what I don't want to do is have one for the Wii U a separate one for the 3DS.

Anyway, I'm going to do my best to really savour the games on this console and avoid having too many and not getting the most out of them, or just not playing them at all. With that in mind, I'm going to download 3D World while it's in the sale and then that's it until February.

Is there anyway I can find out WHAT the NNID was? Then I could maybe get it back on. I have absolutely no record on my emails or anything.

The only email I've had from Nintendo for ages is my one confirming my NNID when I registered it. I'd suggest you try to find that email.

Nintendo's account stuff is notoriously crap so don't get your hopes up.

Ids wonderful 101 amazing? Iv seen it in lots of top ten list, I thought the demo was shite but Iv ordered the full game as platinum have never let me down.

Secondly is it still worth buying monster hunter? Is it fairly active?

W101 suffers because of its lack of explanation. There's some great YouTube videos which explain how the combat works.

Why on earth did you delete the NNID? What did you think it would do?

It's not an easy thing to do even, it makes you jump through EA-level 'OK' prompts to do it.

You sure you've not just removed it from the console - because if you've done that, rather than a full delete from the Nintendo servers - you can get the stuff back if you can just remember the NNID details....

Watch these vids for an explanation of how the game works (the game doesn't explain itself very well):

Also, be aware that there are times when you need to pay attention to whats happening on the gamepad and the main screen at the same time -there were a few times where this caught me out.

It's only amazing if you're willing to put the time and energy into being amazing at it. Like this: http://youtu.be/ggE_TR0vzwg

There is nothing outside of the very basics explained.. You're on your own for the rest of it, but that's the fun!

When you set up a NNID, do you attach an email address to it? Could someone please dig up that email confirmation and copy it in here for me? I will try a few email addresses but I can't even find the confirm for my NNID.

:(

I just dug out my email, the subject line was:

[Nintendo Network] Email Address Confirmation

(with the square brackets).

Good luck getting it back!

Add one person and you can see their friends and add them through the friends thingy or Miiverse.

Is the off TV play for every game? How do games look on the screen?

Not every game - but most. I find the game pad noticeably worse than playing on a good TV due to the decreased res (854x480 I think) and quality of the panel. By itself - it is a fine screen and a good alternative if you don't have access to a telly. But when games looks as gorgeous as Mario 3D World - I can't bring myself to play it off screen when it looks so much better on the TV.

Now that I've got a pro controller - it is a little sad how often the gamepad sits unseen on a cradle behind the tv. The games on the system are incredible and some of the best this gen, and I've pretty much began collecting all the best first party ones, but the gamepad does very little for me outside of stuff like Zombi U and being useful to married blokes.

Yep, it's absolutely brilliant for this reason and the quality is fine. I spent a good few hours this afternoon playing wind waker and hyrule warriors on the pad and it was great fun.

Yeah, it seems really under utilised with few games taking advantage of it.

I don't want to kick Nintendo when they're down again but the console looks a bit confused. I've just read that it's best to play Pikmin 3 with a wii remote and nunchuck!

Everyone mentiones the pro controller constantly too so you're looking at buying two extra controllers to get the best options.

It's a shame because you can see Nintendos games are rock solid. The level of polish and the focused design philosophy means the top ones don't look like anything else on the market.

I'm interested in one now, mostly because of Captain Toad but looking around its sad to see that's there's so little I could buy.

Toad, 3D Land (which also looks great), Smash Bros (give it a go), Mario Kart and... thats about it really. Now I'm sure these are high quality games, and I'll go nuts for a new Metroid Prime (Zelda too if it's a return to oot/MM form) but it's such a small number.

Re. Smitty.

Buy a basic Wii U. Play through those 4 stone cold classics. Sell it all on. Total cost of playing those 4 games? Prolly not that steep. Say £50?

Well I'm not gonna sell it am I? I'd be waiting for Metroid and Zelda.

Is there anything exciting on the horizon?

My essentials list:

Mario 3D World

Mario Kart 8

Wind Waker HD - made in 2002 and still looks like one of the best looking games ever made. It is shockingly beautiful in HD.

Smash Bros

Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze

NSMB U

Bayo 1+2 combo

Pikmin 3

Already that's an insanely high quality library without considering future releases

Tropical Freeze is on the WiiU? I thought it was a 3DS game. Weird.

I think that's a good list by the way but whilst it's high quality it's so very Mario focused.

They really need a Metroid, perfect dark or whatever type of titles coming out as well. Something not Mario but with that Nintendo feel.

God I'd kill for a new Metroid
