I still want Super Smash Bros, but now feel it is pointless by not having all the Gamecube stuff.

I have however seen some Chinese knockoff adapters on eBay. Thinking of grabbing one or two of those to see if they work.

Apparently more adapters are on their way from Nintendo but Play-Asia have a third party adapter with an original controller if you're interested.

Yes. Or 4 using GC controllers 1 on the Game Pad, and 3 using Pro controllers or Wii remotes. It's 8 player!

You can buy a digital version of it from Game.co.uk for £39.99, they just send you a code.

No idea how they undercut the Nintendo store like that but it's great!

Not for a nintendo game I'm afraid. £40-£50 during the consoles life, then £50-£100 when it becomes retro.

Was tempted to buy the Metroid Prime Trilogy to play on my nice new wii u. Looked at prices and nope.

Even duffers like twin snakes go for about £60 on ebay.

It was great until the last couple of levels, which were very glitchy. Thinking back, 2003 was such a great year for the GameCube.

Billy Hatcher was always awful. Flipped it after about four plays, something I never do. It just felt so shoddy and half formed. Good music, though.

I beat Billy Hatcher last year and I didn't think it was that good. It was half baked, it was a functional Mario 64 clone with a bad camera and some questionable design choices in places.

I have not, is it that bad? I always liked it a lot more than people did back in the day, so I'm sure I'd like it now... maybe.

Best thing about Billy Hatcher was the soundtrack, I could have seen the egg puzzles be better if it got a sequel. The general colourful-ness was lovely too of course.

Less frustrating then Mario Sunshine later on? Well, I don't remember enough to say, but I'd bet on yes.

Long time listener to rllmuk, first time caller...

I got my Wii U a few months back. It has single-consoledly reawakened my love for games.

To be honest, I don't care that there aren't that many games for it. I bought it for Nintendo's magic -- that I am not blessed with the opportunity to buy Shooty McShoot-Shoot IV: The Shootening is not exactly something I have lost sleep over. And that is as someone with a 360 pile of shame that towers vertiginously and ominously. But I think I have played on my Wii U more in the last few months than possibly over the last couple of years on the 360.

Each and every one of the Wii U games I have has clearly been made with love -- and not only with an eye on whatever the latest fad is, or whatever financial analysts want to hear. And they keep me coming back. I tend to dip in and out of games -- so in some respects, the immediacy of Nintendo's titles and the pure play they embody are ideal since work and life constrain time available for gaming. Sure, the Mario story has been told over and over again, usually without much addition to rescuing Peach -- but that means when I pick up a game after a week or so where I left off, I am not left trying to remember the latest developments in the plot, or the details of whatever quest I might be on.

Despite that, the depth of gameplay is wondrous. I am currently playing through Super Mario 3D World and each level brings some new delight, some surprise, some piece of cleverness that makes it fresh and exciting and makes me grin like a loon. The polish applied is amazing -- and every piece of the package, the music, the graphics, the response from the controller, are all part of that. I am looking forward massively to Captain Toad as it looks like another slice of that magic, buffed to diamond-like intensity.

Of course, there are still some baffling things about it all -- why have Nintendo not made more of the Virtual Console? why not put GBA games on the 3DS? -- but the sheer number of plus points far outweigh the minuses.

While I'm about it -- this thread is partly responsible for my being a Wii U owner. So thank you, posters of rllmuk. The excitement around these games simply pervades your writing.

TL;DR Hello, rllmuk. I fear I've become a Nintendo fanboy. But I don't care.
