I'm a bit right, but then true single handedness is fairly rare. Still makes zero sense as to why they couldn't flip the controls in that mode, you only need the stick and a shoulder button which is already perfectly mirrored with the pad layout :(

Yes, but I meant that because you're left, you're not right. See?

(ChrisBravoTown and Skull Commander didn't see)

Yeah, but I am right. Always. Except when I'm not, of course.

I don't get the negs either, we should all learn to love each others hands

Overlong? So if they removed some dungeons it would be better?

Not liking it is fair enough, I'm not going to force you into liking something, but as it still stands today it's a masterclass in overworld and dungeon design. Imagine playing it in 1992/93, back then it blew my head clean off and pretty much solidified the medium as being a life-long hobby for me. Just as I thought I'd completed the game after collecting the Master Sword and raiding the palace the whole green and blue world gets transformed into brown and purple darkness and I have tons more shit to do.

I tested it on someone in my last job who had never played a Zelda game before, and it had the same effect on him. He was glued to it for two weeks.

I did like it though, I just think it's massively overrated. I enjoyed Link's Awakening more, just for example.

Perhaps that's why I don't think that much of it - I first played it in '95, and so had already played through proper epics like Mercenary and Midwinter on the ST, and the amazing action-adventure-puzzle-dungeoner Little Big Adventure on PC. Compared to those it just fell flat; obviously LBA postdated it, but as a ten-year old that didn't give me pause for thought - all I cared was that it it lacked the freedom and scope of the former games, and the narrative and sense of progress of the latter, so I judged it harshly. Perhaps my general dislike of Zelda comes simply because I came too late to the series.

Well my first Zelda was Ocarina, so that theory doesn't hold up for me.

My first taste of Zelda was Link's Awakening, and I never got on with LttP due to the rubbish, vague overworld map. The environment was too homogeneous to be particularly memorable, at least in the early stages, and being a completeist I missed the cell-based overworld map from the Gameboy.

I've tried to go back to it a few times, but it's never grabbed me. Not had a problem with other 2D SNES efforts (Seiken Densetsu 2/3, Soulblazer Trilogy, etc), or with Minish Cap on the GBA. Loved all the 3D Zeldas to pieces (although I've not played the DS ones).

This £199 Amazon deal is still up in the air. We should find out tomorrow if we're getting it but what a fuck up.

Seems like some people who ordered via Flubit have had their consoles now, so fingers crossed. Mine is still down for delivery on the 12th.

edit: Mine says 'Preparing for dispatch' now

Last night, I played through a solo run through of Smash Bros as Captain Falcon. Then played Bayonetta 2 and achieved my first ever pure platinum medal. Then went and played Mario Kart 8 online and had a blast.

The WiiU is now hitting it out of the park.

Mine has been dispatched!

Suprised Amazon made good on what seems like a fantastic deal!

lol, typed in a rush, I'll clarify.

With that Amazon offer there was concern you might get Mario U as the description, picture and title contradicted each other.

But what arrived is what I and others had hoped for which was Super Mario 3d World.

I fully look forward to playing both 3D World and NSMBU and declaring them both awful compared to SMB3.

Half because I'm a terrible human being, and half because MY WII U JUST GOT SHIPPED, MOTHERFUCKERS.

I'm going to need a Tim Westwood gunshot/police siren soundboard to express my joy when it arrives.
