Nintendo Wii U

Your router might be on "auto", and changed channel. Try changing it yourself.

Still could be because of the neighbours - making your router change to a channel that interferes with the Wii U.

Thanks Dekay, will give it a go when I get home.

It's definitely the reason I've only been getting Stone trophies on Bayo 2.

Honest.

You might want to get a cheap USB/LAN adapter and wire it up if it's right next to the router.

I've never been a big fan of wifi.

Just read that Watchdogs entered the WiiU single format charts at 14, being outsold by FIFA 13 lol

I don't really understand the point of releasing it if they're not going to promote it at all, they're not even going to make the money back on the manufacture of the discs at this point, let alone the dev costs.

Expensive way to get evidence that nobody is buying wii U games?

Who knows.

Anyway, I finally got around to lugging all my worthless old (but still good) games to the local indie shop, and they didn't have any U pro controllers, or hyrule warriors, or bayonetta 2, but they did have mario 3d world, so I bought that for £22ish. I may start tonight after mariokart.

I was in one of our Tesco superstores at the weekend and decided to see if they had Bayonetta 2, but in an eerie echo of last year I discovered Nintendo had disappeared from the shelves altogether. No Wii U, no DS, no empty shelves waiting for a restock - just gone, at the same time all the Christmas promo stuff was out. They probably had some Skylanders Wii stuff, I expect - nearly half the gaming area was dedicated to that. I'm sure Tesco know what's going to sell and what isn't a little better than I do, but it was still a sad discovery and I wonder how much is down to Nintendo... there were prominent end-of-aisle PS4 displays. You'd hope an MK8 cutout would shift a few bundles at this time of year.

My local full-size Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys supermarkets don't stock any Nintendo games or hardware at all, haven't for years in some cases. The only chain in my area that stocks Nintendo products is Argos, come to think of it. Quite depressing really. Haven't seen so little Nintendo retail presence in this country since the days when their only console was the NES.

Our Tesco was DS-only for a while, but definitely had some Wii stuff in a couple of months ago. Seems weird - they've got loads of space, it must be the best time of the year to sell them, and presumably Nintendo wants them out there. I just wonder at what stage it's breaking down.

Their entire game section is just one side of a fairly short aisle, though, and is limited to 'top ten' titles and vanilla console packs with a few end-of-aisle promos, so I guess it's not a big revenue stream for them in that store.

Our HMV went Nintendo-free for a while, too, for some reason. I can see anyone who wants to buy a Wii U in the high street this Christmas having to do a fair bit of walking around.

So really they should get their Fit Meters in advance.

I was sure I'd set my console up correctly (and to be fair it does work for system updates) but how do I make sure it's ready to automatically download the Hyrule Warriors DLC in a couple of days?

If it's working for system updates it's as ready as it can be (I guess just make sure you have the check-in timing set to be something other than just once every other week lol) - a lot depends on if they do a software update as well as releasing the DLC. If they do, the system will download and install the update, but will only then do the DLC afterwards (since it's the only the updated game that knows to go look for the associated DLC).

Don't launch from the quick menu either - that appears to cut out the connection/check in order to quicken things up. Go to the main menu and launch the game from there.

If you've done it now it will be. It tends to take a few days to fix, and the whole process takes about a week. You get a year warranty with them as well, which is nice.

Be prepared for other problems though, and check it properly when you get it back. (I sent mine in with the same error and lost my Virtual Console games)

Thanks. Just to be sure, where would I find the 'check-in timing' setting? I can find the Receive/Don't Receive options easily enough, but nothing similar to that.

I sent my Wii U back to Nintendo for repairs last Monday (drive keeps saying discs are damaged/ faulty when they aren't...) - does anyone know how quickly they normally turn the machines around? Hoping it will be back for Christmas...

Uhh have you heard they had a fire at the repair warehouse the other day?

Apparently they sending new consoles out including eshop credit because a lot of the console deminished in the fire.

Oh shit. Well, I haven't had an email or text to say mine went up in smoke - was posted back last Monday. Mine's in a peculiar space as it's coming up to 2 years since it was bought (was a launch console) so it's out of warranty, but I complained to HMV that it's a manufacturing fault and should be covered by EU law. They said they'll reimburse me the repair fee if Nintendo confirm it's a manufacturing fault.
