Nintendo Wii U

FWIW, I'm thinking about packing away my Wii U until the next Zelda game, or anything else of interest, gets released. The DLC tracks for Mario Kart 8 didn't pull me back for more than a few more plays, I passed Monster Hunter 3U onto someone else as I couldn't read the text, and Super Smash Bros is out next week but I've never liked any of that button-mashing madness. I haven't been very much impressed by the Wii U, sadly.

The Monster Hunter text thing really is a terrible oversight. Do people in Japan sit a few centimeters from their TVs?

:o

Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2 and MK8 are like the holy trinity of pure gameplay at the moment.

Pretty much, even back in the SNES days the Japanese joypads had far shorter leads than we and the US got. May have happened before that, no idea.

So other than having a pretty cool collection of Nintendo figures is there any real legitimate reason to buying Amiibo's at launch? I need talking out of buying some!

Kotaku has a review of Wave 1. Some look great and some do not -

Amazon.co.uk has waves 1 and 2 up for pre-order. Prices start at £10 -

Waves 3 and 4 are on the way soon -

Some amiibos might also go up in price due to production errors -

I just picked up that WiiU Bayonetta bundle at Shopto. The lure of that game was hard enough to stay away from on its own without discounted consoles being advertised! Quick question on external memory though - As its the basic 8GB version, can I just stick in a 64gb usb flash pen & use that, rather than have to through the whole external drive plugged into a power supply?

So I received the 2nd hand Wii I bought from ebay yesterday, only had a chance to open it now... what a stink! Obviously its from a smoker's home, and the Wii and bits are in great condition, but damn... how on earth do you get rid of the stink? It's even languishing on the sensor bar, and under the control flaps... even after using some lemon scented wipes, the smoke is still there :(

The silicone cases for the Wiimotes are a lost cause. Given it a thrice over now, still smells.

What's a second hand wii worth nowadays? I sort of want to get rid of mine but it feels like more trouble than it's worth.

Oh yeah, saw a competition in Tesco the other day too. You could win a Ps4, Xbone, or a ... wii mini red.

Yeah, something along those lines could cause it - if you've installed any new electronic devices close to the Wii U, particularly ones which broadcast wirelessly, they might be interfering with the signal.
