So looks like the wiiu version of watchdogs isn't actually a dog. Seems to look a bit better than the 360 version and have a decent framerate as well. Apparently the framerate drops a bit during driving but so far it seems a very decent port. Pity it didn't come out at the same time though but thats Ubisoft for you.

I feel kind of terrible that I'm actually quite tempted by it...

...when it drops in price.

Pity it's not a very good game anyway, good framerate or not.

Question for you guys in the know.

We got a Basic 8GB Wii U and some of the DLC stuff says we need an external HDD. Which isn't a problem as I plan on getting one anyway. But I have a few things I'd like clearing up if possible.

1. Can I use a 32GB SD Card to expand the memory instead of a HDD?
2. Can I use an USB Flash Drive instead of a HDD?
3. Is there a limit to the size of the HDD I use?
4. Any recommendations for hardware to expand the memory?

Thanks in advance.

1. Yes. Nintendo say no, but you can. You have to plug it in via USB though, not the SD card slot.

2. Yes. Nintendo say no, but you can.

3. Nintendo say 2TB. I suspect, like the 3DS, this is down to filesystem rather than drive size.

4. I just put an old SATA laptop drive (Toshiba 120GB from my old MacBook) in a USB caddy.

Well technically that's making it a USB flash device, so it's true it doesn't work. You can't install games to the SD Card in the SD Slot. Shame really.

1. No, I don't think so.

2. You can, but it's not recommended or supported (something to do with limited read/write cycles on flash drives)

3. Yes, it's 2TB

4. Virtually any external USB drive will work (with a Y-Cable) - Nintendo specifically recommends these: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/latam/en/systems/wiiu/system_external_storage.jsp?menu=general_info&submenu=wup-external-usb-storage

Word of warning on USB powered drives, I had lots of crashes and loss of save data. No problems at all since moving to externally powered drive.

Same. I had 2 different 64GB USB drives corrupt and lose data on me. Been fine since switching to an old 500gb portable drive I had.

That's not the same thing. You're on about flash drives.

Did you use a Y cable?

So I'm looking at buying some eshop money as a Christmas present for someone. But can't find any (the ones on Amazon being listed as "currently unavailable")

You have to be able to buy a points card or something, surely?

Pretty much anywhere sells cards - Game, Argos, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Asda, HMV, Next, Boots, Currys, Clintons. Even bloody Monsoon sell them, and I've seen them in Mothercare! They're in with the iTunes cards.

Or buy them online (code only) from Game, Shopto, CDKeys, Gamepointsnow, or the PayPal Digital Gift Shop.

Cool. Cheers.

I just expected them to be on Amazon, like everything else in the world. So was a little confused when they weren't. :)
