Nintendo Wii U

@IndieGamerChick is giving away codes for Blok Drop U at the moment on Twitter. She had Armillo earlier but I would guess most people that wanted would got it cheap last week.

Edit: You need to follow her and request a code so she can DM you a code, but you're free to unfollow afterwards. She's giving out codes on various formats at the moment so is worth following for the moment at least.

The game here is terrible for wii u games. They aren't even stocking physical copies of new games, just download codes. They still have some boxed games on the shelves but that is old stock they haven't moved because they expect people to pay £50 for Mario kart 8.

So I picked up a Wii U today after selling my launch system in July 2013. At the time it was pretty bad trying to find places that sell games let alone consoles but there was always the odd store with them in, yet today I went to 3 different towns and the only one selling anything was Tesco. I asked a guy in an indie shop why he didn't have anything in and he just said none of it ever sold even the Mario games which are always popular just wouldn't budge.

I think as far as Wii U retail goes in the UK Smash Bros will be the peak and Zelda will be the swansong. What shop is going to even bother with the system after Zelda? I mean sure there will be more wii u's sold but it won't really mean anything if the shelf space the system has is already shrinking. It's quite sad really.

Does anyone actually buy a game in a shop these days?

Why would you pay £40 for a game when you can get it online for £32?

Which is probably why Game is the only high street retailer left. And it mostly sells tat. Even most supermarkets only seem to sell a few PS4 or Xbox One games, and a load of Skylanders figures.

I buy instore sometimes. I've bought Wii U software from Smyths toys. The last few purchases from Game were e-shop vouchers and MS Points.

Game used to do a £19.99 game of the week deal.

Retail game shopping is truly shite though. In Plymouth, we used to have 6 places in the town centre and now we've got 2 and both are Game.

Nintendoland is a real treat with a full compliment of players. Picked it up on a whim and took the WiiU to my folks last night - me, my wife, my sister and her hubby + mum & dad went absolutely nuts for Mario Chase and Luigi's Ghost House (or whatever it's called). The ghost game in particular provided hours of brilliant, noisy fun. It was like playing games with them as a kid all over again.

Mario Chase and the Ghost House are both brilliant but at mine it's the "sweetie game" that they all go mad for. Much hilarity as a frog with an enormous sweetie filled head turns in panic and runs while spewing sweets all over in an attempt to escape the pursuing knife and fork. When you try to explain it to someone it sounds ridiculous but once they play it's another story.

Don't forget that Argos do games. I got Hyrule Warriors yesterday by reserving it on my phone on the train and then just waltzing into the store to pick it up. Couldn't be easier and best of all the staff were polite and there was no bloody upsell

Just seen that site. Balls :(

Well I've had the system for a few days, sold my last one in July 2013 so thought it was time to dip my toe back in with a lot more games out. Been working through Zombi U but don't like it and Mario Kart 8. I don't know if its just my age but I found 8 a bit boring just doesn't have the same appeal anymore I did try a fair bit of online races which were a lot better than the single player. Been struggling to find games on it and at best I manage 5 or 6 people so its like the crowds have moved on. Hopefully it will pick up when the DLC comes out next month.

I've just ordered Wonderful 101 and Hyrule Warriors, fingers crossed they are on the mat when I get home. Looking at Wind Waker but not sure if I want to play through it again, the cel shaded look never appealed first time round. Has been a very long time since I played so perhaps when its cheaper I'll grab a copy.

I spent some cash on the store and picked up Earthbound again (thanks for not letting me keep past purchases Nintendo). Next was NES Remix which has turned out to be amazing fun, only problem is the awful lag on the Mario speed runs which you can usually compensate for but there's been a few stages where the gamepad almost ended up thrown out a window.

Tempted to get Mass Effect 3 as I haven't played that since the 360 release, is it any better?
