Nintendo Wii U

It's mad that they don't advertise that feature at all. It's my favorite thing about the console.

Didn't they get forced to pull some ads that showed off-screen play on the basis that it doesn't work for every game?

Agreed though that it's a brilliant feature. Hyrule Warriors on the pad is pretty much perfect. I don't have any problems with range, either, at least not within my lounge, although for some reason the racing game on Nintendo Land always loses its connection to the gamepad - it's the only thing that does. Maybe due to the vertical orientation you have to use for that game?

My bedroom is right above the living room but I can't get signal to use the gamepad in bed. The range on it is dreadful.

Yeah, I wish I could get it to work in bed. I just about have the range to take the gamepad to the bedroom door. So close...

Mine doesn't reach to one of the sofas in the lounge. It's only about 8ft away :(

I was having similar problems with my Wii U console too.

First couple of days was fine, could walk around the house and play the system with no worries at all. I moved the console downstairs to the main TV and then I was having problems with the Wii U pad cutting out and all sorts. On games like W101, the sound would slightly stutter which I wouldn't mind, but what was also happening was the pad itself seemed to be coming on and off. I knew this because charge attacks using the Y & X buttons would auto release at random intervals.

Was really pissing me off, even when I was sitting right next to the TV. For some reason, I unplugged the Xbox One which sits next to the Wii U...everything solved. I subsequently read online that other wireless devices may be interfering with the game pad and that it may be wise to reset or unplug other devices to make sure they don't interfere with the gamepad. I have no idea what the tech aspect of this is, but turn shit on and off sounds easy enough to me.

Hmmm I'm going to have a mess with mine tonight and check out it's range. I'd love to be able to play mine in bed and would use it way more if I could, but I'm thinking that the stone walls old in the house I live in are going to prove impenetrable to the the waves of Nintendo gaming goodness. Baaaaaah :(.

I've just realised I bough Child of Light months ago and haven't touched it yet. And I'm only 10 minutes into UnEpic.

FFS.

Child of Light is a beautiful game - absolutely stunning to look at at times. It's not without fault, the story delivery can grate a bit at times, but certainly worth playing.

Get an Amazon gift voucher with your shopping.

I'd vouch for that.

Even dedicated game shops (well my local game) have limited Wii U shelf space. Online retailers are about the only option.

I'm playing The Walking Dead on 360 at the moment. I had to wait until it was all released before starting it as, waiting months between episodes the first time around was torture. The Walking Dead would have worked on the Wii U.

I'm not hyped for Smash Bros, not really that fussed about Bayonetta either. I'm hyped for X and Project Cars and Zelda. The games seem so far away though.

Even dedicated game shops have limited *game* space. Nowhere round here has a decent selection of games for ANY console anymore. Even Game is half toys, phones and iPads now. What games there are are 90% second hand anyway.

My local game stores have a handful of new and pre-order titles (Hyrule Warriors, Smash), then a few second hand games mixed in with the Wii stuff. Which is pretty much exactly how it was in the GameCube era, and that was probably my favourite console.

Question - is it worth playing Wii NSMB before getting the Wii U ones? I find the upscaling surprisingly bearable. Similarly, while I clocked Mario Galaxy, I never played Mario Galaxy 2 - worth tracking down?
