Nintendo Wii U

Any good deals for some combo of WiiU/MK/World3D?

To be honest, any bundle would have to be a pretty impressive combo to work out cheaper than just buying a Basic Wii U with Remote Plus (and Nintendo Land and Wii Party U) for ~£150 including postage, then buying the two games for their going rates (£35 and £40, respectively) - i.e. £225 for the whole lot (and the opportunity to sell the Remote Plus for ~£30 if you've no need for it).

Though you will admittedly need to spend maybe £5 on an EU-UK converter for the plug if you don't already happen to have one lying around.

If you plan on downloading games then you'll definitely want more than the ~3gb space that you're left with on the 8gb machine... but you'll also very likely want more than the ~27gb that the Premium has free if you ever plan on having more than a handful of games installed, meaning either way you're likely to end up wanting an external hard drive sooner rather than later.

And white looks better, so you know, no-brainer.

Does the Wii U really need the bigger HD?

Yes, it's still shit but might be enough. 32GB or whatever it is? It's enough for a handful of games, but them arguably there's only a handful of games you'll ever own digitally anyway given the prices compared to the equivalent boxed releases are a pisstake and in my view there's little worth owning otherwise that's sizeable.

I've got MK8, Wind Waker HD, Wii Fit U, Nintendoland, Pikmin 3, Wii Sports Club tennis & bowling and SMB3 with a little space to spare. You can plug an external hard drive in, but fuck that ugly mess.

White is too distracting. The human eye naturally looks at the brightest thing first. I don't want a white surround overpowering the screen and then turning beige and all the seams and cracks getting dirty over time as dead skin, grease and dust gathers in the cracks.

But, whatever, each to their own.

If anyone is after a cheap U, the brand new Basic Wii Party U bundles [basic Wii U console, Nintendo Land, Wii Party U, extra Wii Remote Plus] can still be had for €180 (£150-ish).

AFAIK, even though it's from the Amazon Italy, the UK site should cover you if the console does develop any problems. It's an excellent deal if you plan to use your own storage, and with the Premium Points Promotion running out soon, you won't miss out on much.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger and order this. There should be no problems ordering this from Italy should there? I mean I will still be able to use the console in English and I'll be able to connect online and use the shop etc.

Bloody hell. No WiiU or 3DS in Tesco or Sainsbury's for browsing. Did I decide to get a dead console? :D

Do any of the big supermarkets even stock either Nintendo console or its games any more? :( None of my nearest one do. Wouldn't get my games from them

except for one-off random bargains, but I realise these formats sorely need more retail exposure.

Thought as much, just wanted to double check with the online stuff, as I know Nintendo can be a bit of a special case when it comes to their online services. :)

NB - I just got mine this morning, and while I didn't get a chance to hook it up it's worth noting that you need two EU-UK adapters, which I hadn't realised - at least, if you want to be able to charge your Gamepad without unplugging the Wii U first, as they both have their own power supplies.

My local Sainsburys does, but their entire games section is a quarter of the size it was a few months ago.
