I've always been of the opinion that Sega jumped the shark when they released the first Sonic the Hedgehog. Sega went from being a company with a varied range of games series, particularly platform games, to simply being The Obnoxious Hedgehog Company.

That's so beyond incorrect I think you've broken the space-time barriers and entered another reality.

You kind of missed out about 20 years there but okay.

So, so wrong.

The Sonic games were such a small drop in the ocean that was the Sega library back then, especially when you take into account their spectacular and frequent arcade output.

Is anyone else playing Knytt Underground? It's good! I got to chapter two and thought "WTF is going on here?" and now I'm on the third chapter and still have no idea what's going on. I think they programmed the NPCs to talk utter bollocks just for fun.

Playing through chapter one now. The old 'scrabble around a screen whilst dodging a sentinels scanning mechanism' never gets old.

It's like a relaxing Jet Set Willy with added bollocks.

I am, and yes - it's really good. The character "portrait" art is comically bad though, but the rest of the game is beautiful.

It really is. I showed my brother the picture of Mi and he didn't believe that was actually from the game. Otherwise it's a lovely game though, very nice atmosphere and music :)

What's the Wii U version like, how does it make use of the controller and so on? Not played ME2 yet but I didn't fancy getting ME3 on PC because of all the Origin bollocks anyway.

From what I read, very good.

The Gamepad is used nicely for weapon swapping and power usage, and from a few screenshots I saw, can display the map and other info.

I think the only thing people may struggle with is the lack of continuation from 1 and 2, but they've given a fair bit of choice with the Genesis comic. It doesn't cover every eventuality from the first two games, but you it looks like you can tailor a good back story.

I've bought it purely to see how the Gamepad controls are used, i'll report back when i've given it a try.

Mass Effect is 8 quid on Amazon. I gave up on the first, didn't play the second - but this sounds like a good price for a game folks have raved about.

Fuck sake, Scott! You really should play 1 and 2, it'll make 3 all the more sweeter. I can't even imagine playing 3 without having gone through all the shit that happens in 1 and 2.
