Nintendo Wii U

Which consoles can you upgrade and make games run smoother on?

That's not what a "Steam style account system" is, but since you asked: PSVita and iPad.

EDIT: Also, people seem to be trying to say I'm defending it, that's not what I'm doing at all. I agree it would be better if it were account based - I couldn't possibly argue against that, it's common sense. I'm just questioning the real-world impact. How many people has it *really* caused a problem for. Do we have on real person on this forum for example. Not a friend of a friend on gamefaqs who knew a guy who dropped his Wii U down the toilet when he was carrying it around in the bathroom for some reason.

It's a problem for me because I'm not buying games as a result. I could put an actual pounds and pence value on that if I felt so inclined.

EDIT: I'm also currently unable to play my daily Animal Crossing session on my backup 3DS while Nintendo has my XL in for repair. That's two weeks of weeds I'll have to contend with once I get it back.

You can just go to the gardening shop, and ask for the weeds to be removed.

I had my Wii U stolen and to get a replacement for the items that I had downloaded they wanted a full copy of the police report, the serial number, copy of my original receipts and a few other bits of information. I didn't have the full police report as it happened a while beforehand and I wasn't in a rush to get it replaced. I provided all the things I did have including the crime number but they wouldn't help me without a full police report. I even provided a copy of the digital code that I used to buy the game with and a copy of the Nintendo ID email I received when I opened my account.

I know I could have got one from the police but I didn't feel like it was worth the police's time being bothered to replace a game (Nintendo Land which I since bought for £10) and a few pieces of tat like the Google Street view.

So as it's an inconvenience I won't be buying any more digital content from Nintendo until they have an account system in place to just allow me to download the things that I bought.

They didn't even bother to answer my question about whether I could change the Nintendo ID account that was associated with my stars account.

Hahaha that's so insane. Sounds like Nintendo is spending a fortune in ridiculous customer service admin while they get their act together on the account issue.

What an excellently Nintendo thing that is.

They should get more games from third parties in general. Spending a load of money on exclusivity for something like Titanfall would be a waste when there's more important work to be done in convincing other developers (and consumers) that the Wii U is a platform worth investing in.

Nintendo do the odd 'moneyhat' deal, it's just that the ones they feel worthwhile don't garner much interest in people who would prefer to choose a rival proprietary hardware platform, where second guessing if the majority of independent vendor games being available doesn't even come to mind.

Nintendo concentrated their warchest on exclusive third party games aimed at their primary market, with only Ubisoft's ZombiU being the exception.

The Xbone once the 25% power increase patch is released.

Sony already beat them to the punch on that one, the PSP had a 50% upclock after launch :P

Thats batshit mental, i don't think you can easily get hold of a 'full police report' either - pretty sure you would have to submit a data protection application to get it and there would be nothing in it for Nintendo other than the list of stolen items and stages of investigation / contact with victim etc.

Imagine if Apple did it that way and you had to print off the list of 20k songs you had on the stolen iphone :D :D

The police report for the stolen wii u would probably say 'nintendo console with udraw accessory' and wouldnt go into anything like the detail Nintendo seem to want, i imagine much like in any form of retail the proof or purchase is the digital receipt you have or it being on a card bill.

My girlfriend's Wii Balance Board (yes, I know) just died this evening after years of service. Before she even got to buy Wii U Fit. Can anyone recommend a way of getting a replacement cheaply? I don't want to have to pay eighty quid for a new one from Argos for her unless I really have to, and I'm not touching secondhand (read: stolen to feed a drug habit) goods from Game or wherever.

Can't see you getting one then.

Once they do finally get a proper account system, do you think they'll let you transfer your existing console-tied games to it?

I expect so. They've already let you register your existing 3DS purchases against your NNID.

Why wouldn't you buy a second hand one? I got one from CEX for £12 and once I'd wiped off the blood and cleaned it with domestos it was fine.

I do think the only cheap option is second hand to be honest.

I'm fine with a secondhand (there's enough out there), just not from the obvious high street places that trade in stolen goods. Unfortunately no Balance Boards get sold on the forum's trading folder, and they'd cost a fortune to post if they did.

Xevious, thanks for the tip-off, I'll investigate my local HMV...

I don't understand why NEG gets negged into oblivion for posting videos that you do not have to watch if you don't want to

Because if people kept telling me the videos I keep posting were shit then I'd have the common decency to refrain from posting them.

But that could apply to anything posted.

Just scroll past them if you do not want to see them no? I never clicked on one until just now. It's shit but made me chuckle a tiny bit.

Of course but they don't bother me and negging him seems to only encourage him. I have a point somewhere.
