Nintendo Wii U

That pretty much sums it up Kempster - Nintendo games and hardware has always given me the most joy over the years even tho i have owned every mainstream console and loved all of them and games on them!

I will play COD/BF/GTA?GT etc as much as i play Nintendo games and love them but there is always something extra with Nintendo output, Mario 3d world was easily the best game i played in 2013 even if i put more time into BF3 and GTA5.

It's hard to describe and maybe why so many seemingly shun Nintendo these days and who knows what the solution is but the gaming world would be far worse off without nintendo so lets hope they get back on track, i love the wii u and what i have seen on the ps4 thus far i love too - they both need to exist and nintendo need to make sure it happens and continues to do so!

In my excitement for the excitement of buying a new nintendo, I forgot to look at what games I actually wanted to play on it.

There's pikmin 3, probably get mario 3d world, maybe the more too much mario new mario. Nintendoland comes with it but I'll be mostly (entirely) playing it on my own.

Nes remix?

:/

I'm still probably getting one

just, you know. It might end up being like when I bought the 3ds and there was nothing out for it for months.

I'd personally strongly recommend:

Super Mario 3D World

Pikmin 3

ZombiU

Lego City Undercover

Wonderful 101

And if you've not already played them before/on another platform I'd add:

Rayman Legends

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Wind Waker

Darksiders II

Trine 2

Finally managed to get one today after missing out on the Argos/Amazon bargains (£199.99 premium fact fans). It's a lovely little bit of kit isn't it. Left it to do the update and now just need to do the Wii transfer, once I've kicked the kids off who are loving Nintendoland. Roll on Mario Kart!

Online is great on MH.

The online is great when you get it working but the lobby system is abysmal. There are very few search options, connection errors are rife and you get kicked right out if the room host disconnects. If you're lucky enough to get a good room (or set one up yourself) then it's one of the best online games I've ever played but the way it all hangs together is positively archaic.

None of this matters in the slightest of course as MH3U is the Best Game Ever but you should probably be prepared.

Yeah I'll have to investigate what kind of games zombiiU, lego, and wonderful are,

since my initial reaction was sick of zombies, never played a lego game, just some demo and found it boring, and wonderful 101 as another platinum experiment that may or may not work.

I did enjoy darksiders, but didn't the sequel get a very poor reception?

I've had a couple of connection errors but none more than any other online game I've ever played. The lobby menu is a bit rubbish, yes.

Setting up your own room is always best. Someone tends to join, but hunting with friends can't be beat. Feel free to add me up: kerumba

Also, FWIW, my Wii U is connected with a cheap eBay LAN adapter and I've not had any connections dropped at all.

Out of my sheer luck the PSOBB server has been offline for over the last week, probably heard I was coming, or something.

I do have the 3DS version of MHU (thanks to the 4 for 3 promotion), but little things such as animal realism (I wish they were slightly more cartoon'y, felt like I'm a butcher attacking jolly happy animals) or the slightly blurry text font put me off (well and the not clear as day 'what am I doing' system, but I can let that off as a sense of discovery thing). Admittedly didn't give it more then an hours chance though.

Now, killing rappies on the other hand...everyone liked killing happy fat rappies!

There's a lot of hidden humour in Monster Hunter... the creatures (not all of them) are real looking and, yes, at first you'll feel bad slicing up some poor things for food, but once you get onto the big guys and you can confidently smack a Rathian around the map, it's The Best Thing.

Argh. I wish my save hadn't been wiped... :'(

Although, if Nap is just starting, we could set out on little online quests together.

I think it's the animals 'showing damage over time' thing specifically. In which case a limping rappy would probably make me cry. :(

I can certainly understand why it's done, though. Also works as animals different phases whilst battling.

Completely independently of this thread, I started Monster Hunter on the Wii U myself today. I've only done the first quest (collecting mushrooms, woo!) so far, but I'd be up for some newbie hunting if anyone's interested.

Thing is, imagine you took a potato then started chipping away at it - you sure as hell wouldn't end up with something that could be turned into crisps. You'd end up with chips, to be fried. Crisps are crisps, fried chips are chips or fries.

Something something Wii U.
