Nintendo Wii U

My mates aren't all that excited about my new purchase yet. When I announced I'd be bringing my brand spanking new Wii U tomorrow, it was met with "a what?!" by one and all.

Ask them what they think after they've played Luigi's Ghost Mansion. With 3-5 players it's an absolutle blast and quick games always seem to turn into multi-hour marathons.

and oh look, not one preorder of wii u watchdogs has been cancelled and it was due to a glitch on the italian website. I hate how the internet makes mountains out of molehills.

Impressive if I were still living in 1985.

I prefer living in 1991

I'd love to see Angry Wario. Throw big fat Wario heads about. All shouting various forms of Wah! and Money!

Hey Kempstar - thanks for that - exactly how I feel and lovely to read. It's incredibly sad to see the amount of conversation on a gaming forum that seems focused on Nintendo no longer creating hardware when the WiU does so much right and has such lovely games

Hey, put it this way - whatever Nintendo does if you own a Wii U, you're a winner.

Sales go through the roof due to a strategy change but keeps the Wii U? "Told you it was great"

Nintendo pull out of the home console business? You've got a great collectible, but unlike the Vitrua boy, it's got amazing games for it!

I can see the retro gamer article now..

Pickford! Get writing a game for it, means you can be the Wii U expert for Retro Gamer articles in 10 years time!

(seriously, why not port Pocket Billiards to it or a two player Feud update, one uses their own screen on the Wii U controller? awesome!)

The wii u was always a marketing disaster waiting to happen (from the very first reveal when everyone was confused).

My prediction the wii u will get a major rebrand/redesign. Still compatible with the older stuff - but a sexier package that is clearly doing something different. And they need a game that shows off what the point of the second screen is..

I love Nintendo too. But their marketing amd branding team have done a terrible job since 2010.

They should do some kind of 'New You, WiiU' for the new year. Little videos of lifestyle people being impossibly amazing... Taglines with 'faster' woman on treadmill and a game, smarter, doing somethjng smart, someone fannying about with the pad, stronger, someone lifting, then an example of better graphics, with an ultimate tag line about promising to have more fun, cut to family on couch all playing mario together...

Or something

That's bent, mate

shove it on ITV in the morning - boom. I think part of the problem is that the lifestyle folks that were so good at getting the Wii message across just don't know what the single message is for the WiiU. Rather than focus on all the fancy stuff it does, just focus on it being new.

I do agree though, I would hate the ad as well - but it's not for me is it?

I have different memories to Kempstar (obviously) (mine start with seeing someone else's Game & Watch and desperately wanting one of my own, then a while later my mum buying me Donkey Kong Jr G&W) but his last paragraph is 100% me. I'm happy when Nintendo sell lots and do well, but I don't really care when they don't, so long as they keep making their games. Me and my kids still love playing them and I hope we always will.

I feel you, Kempstar.

Selling off my collection of Nintendo Game & Watch games to make some cash and it's more difficult than I thought it would be. Such beautiful little things, such nostalga, I don't want to let them go.

Obviously don't know your situation... But you will probably only regret it and wish you hadn't.

Well, only two of them are from my childhood. The others I've won on EBay over a period of years. I wanted to collect the entire set before I realised there was about sixty-five of them (welp!) and I only ever went for boxed ones in great condition. Had a couple of lucky finds at car boot sales but there's just too much competition.

Basically I've been near housebound for five months due to some still undiagnosed muscle problem, and feel the urge to buy myself something nice and shiny. I appreciate your concern for making no rash decisions, though.
