Nintendo Wii U

Sorry but  it's Nintendo, if they can make a slider for it they will. If it was up to them they'd release a machine covered in switches.

And not only is there a volume slider, but if you've got the game running on the TV then the audio pumped out of the gamepad is different to the audio from the speakers.

Ok the transfer tool is now working but I'm suddenly wondering if I actually want to transfer these old school retro shooters and platformers. You can't use the GameCube controller right? The horizontal wiimote is just rubbish. Can you use the gamepad to play Wii VC stuff or do they make one of those retro controllers like they did for the Wii? Or maybe those work... Can you still get them?

Hack your Wii first, take a backup, do the transfer, restore from backup. You then have your VC games on both machines.

Don't do this if you're going to sell your Wii though. There might be issues with the same shop account being used.

I'm a sucker for twin-stick shooters and I bought Nano Assault Neo. Is it just me or is it a bit easy? I mean, I'm a cack handed buffoon normally, but I've breezed through it. Arcade mode seems a bit more difficult, but not radically so. I only have a couple of friends who have it (scottcr is one of them) so perhaps it's more about score chasing, but even then I'm not entirely sure the score mechanics are deep enough.

Pikmin 3 is fast becoming my GotY... Holding off buying Mario 3d until I've finished Pikmin and NSMB.

The wife and me tried Nintendo Land the other night but not really feeling it so far.

Play Luigi's Ghost Hunt game and Mario Chase, they are like PacMan Vs. and are of course brilliant. And try Metroid for team play.

Because I'm with beard at the moment, and Mario Chase shows your face in the corner of the main screen, my mates were calling it Catch the Taliban :hmm:

With just two players the co-op games like Zelda or Pikmin are pretty fun. In terms of the versus games with just two of you we enjoyed Animal Crossing the most. I found it quite satisfying chasing after someone with a character on each stick.

Once you have four or five players Luigi's Mansion and Mario Chase are absolutely brilliant though. Unstoppably brilliant.

A really odd complaint. How else would they do it?

The classic controller for the Wii has a fantastic d-pad for retro games, much better than the GameCube one. It will work fine in Wii mode on the U.

I got £70 from christmas cards from various distant family members this year. That's near enough £270, with a bit of clever rounding, so I used it as an excuse to pick up a premium Wii U with Zelda and the new Mario. Can't wait for it to finish downloading whatever it is it's downloading.

middle 2 have been used by someone, anyone still playing rayman? i only got it for Christmas but my god is it good, the daily/weekly challenges are addictive, the game play is a great follow on from origins the gamepad really adds something extra, and the fact you can unlock levels from origins adds more playtime, i can see me spending a lot of time on this in between the mario's and possibly zelda if i pick it up.

best console I've owned in a long time only had it a month or so but i've got a pile of games that i would consider classics already. not turned the ps3 on since getting this and i can't see that changing off tv play is amazing with 2 young children.

nnid is lightyear01 if anyone wants to add me.
