Merry Nintendomas everyone. Only got to have 20 mins of Mario 3D World earlier but seemed fantastic. Played Mario chase and Ghost Mansion on Nintendo land with the kids - immense fun, don't think I've seen them shriek with joy at a game like that before. Wonderful stuff

Christmas is cancelled. The girlfriend's bloody cat chewed through the bloody Wii U pad charging cable. Astonishingly it isn't USB, so I can't use the Pro Controller charging cable. I've got Pikmin 3, 3D world, Nintendo Land, and WWHD sat unplayed.

Now I've calmed down, I need to know if I need the controller to get everything up and running later on. Can I do it with the pro controller or with a Wiimote?

The Wii U has been in the wardrobe for 5 months waiting for today, and I'm stuck with family visits right now. AAAARRRGGGHHHH!

Thank god for Woody and the gang, there was a Toy Story 3 sized gap where I think the Nintendo servers were a little less hammered and I managed to grab the wind Waker. :-D

Easily fixable, surely? Strip the wire a bit, twist it back together, insulate with tape.

It has the same end as the 3DS charger. I'm not saying it works because I don't want to kill anyone, but surely it'd be safe in case kids mistakenly do it?
