I much prefer replaying 20 minutes of the same apart again where my skills are tested rather than having it replaced by 20 minutes of backtracking/repeat sections or fetch questing that test my patience. Which is exactly the problem with the modern Zeldas.

Yeah, I totally get that. I much prefer plodding around and seeing something new though even if it's padding.

You played Link Between Worlds yet?

What is Miiverse?

Oh and I have never played a Zelda game before. Should I get A Link to the Past?

Yeah, it's pretty much the template of the series and the pinnacle of the 2D games. Although I recommend playing it on a handheld if you can (GBA version or emulated) as its majesty might be a bit muddled if you play it on a huge television now.

Ocarina of Time is also definitely recommended, preferably the 3DS remake as the N64 original may be a bit painful on the eyes now. I think Ocarina of Time is the best Zelda ever made, and one of the best games ever full stop. Still holds up well too. I'm not much of a retro/nostalgia gamer and seldom replay games, but playing through the game again on the 3DS was an absolute joy.

Get it on WiiU, gamepad play with save states and MiiVerse.

Yeah, it might actually be very good on the gamepad, forgot about that.

You can also get the GBC games (the Capcom Oracle games and Link's Awakening) on the 3DS VC. They're also pretty good, although not as good as LttP IMO. Minish Cap is also very good and definitely worth playing, but I think that was only released as part of the 3DS Ambassador program.

anyone struggle a bit with twin-stick games on the gamepad? I find aiming in the zombi U demo pretty hard. Maybe I'm just not used to the stick placement yet.

Yeah, I'm struggling a bit with Deus Ex for no real reason that I can see other than unfamiliarity. I really, really wish they'd put a wiimote/nunchuk option in.

I was all over the place with the buttons for the first couple of hours, particularly + and -, as I'd already put hundreds of hours into MH3U first with the Classic Controller Pro before I switched to the GamePad, so my muscle memory for going from stick to button wanted to go upwards. Just takes some getting used to, particularly for the Bow, which requires you to hold the X button and use the stick at the same time for camera control.

Nah, the difficulty is PERFECT in aLttP. It's just that recent Zeldas have become a walk in the park.

I'm sure this is right. A lot of it is me doing basic daft things like pressing the wrong buttons when under attack.

I have to say, it looks pretty lovely through the Wii U on our 42" telly. Miles better than I was expecting.

There's going to be a price drop on WiiU tomorrow!

How do I know this?

Because I've just ordered a 32GB premium with New Super Mario/Luigi, Wind Waker and Super Mario Cat Bells 3D, that's how.

...

Lego City Wii U premium bundle up for £199.99 at amazon.co.uk

Christmas is coming.

Fuck you, Michael Pachter!

What's the situation with storage. I'm guessing that neither 8gb or 32gb is actually workable, but the Nintendo site is useless. It says I can't use a flash drive and have to use an external HDD with its own power supply. What about a HDD with two USB ports which powers the hard drive that way? How many USB ports does the Wii U have? What's the largest hard drive it supports? WHY ISN'T THIS INFORMATION ON THE NINTENDO WEBSITE?
