Nintendo Wii U

I'm one of those guys who, this time last year, claimed he'd never buy a Wii U and had given up on Nintendo.

My Mario pack arrived yesterday from Argos with the free Marvel Lego game. It's a great bit of kit. I'm currently watching the Pikmin move my files from my old Wii.

NSMB WiiU is stunning! Can't wait to get 3d World and Pikmin at Xmas.

I'm in the same club. I just can't stay mad at Nintendo when they put out games like the latest Zelda and Super Mario 3D World. Ordering the WW pack and Mario today as a treat from me to me at Xmarse.

Our unborn child has bought us a Wii U, NSMBU, NSLU, Nintendoland, Wii Party U, Rayman Legends, Wii Fit U, Wii Sports Club Bowling & Tennis and a couple of remotes for Christmas, and my wife even fired up the old DS last night for the first time in probably a couple of years just to have a go on NSMB. Interesting times!

Getting toki tori and that cube game for under 2 quid each? Great idea- bought both of them!

I wish other devs would go back to their Wiiware releases and update to HD/ WiiU. The rebirth games, the art style games, hydro venture- imagine them on the Wii U?

Make me a couple of quid each - surely that's a quick win for them?? Would it be that much work to update?

I have no interest in playing anything other than Super Mario 3D World. With this in mind, what's the cheapest option for buying a Wii U premium and said game?

Second hand/cheap 8gb basic Wii U and a used 3d World of the forums here.

But, there are other games that are worth a purchase of a Wii U too.

Just completed Super Mario 3D World and although its amazing, I REALLY enjoyed NSMBU to the poit where I would say I prefered it, but only 1% more. I like the 'skill' involved in doing some of the harder levels and challanges as the control in 2D is better as I did find myself making stupid deaths due to the controls at times in 3D World.

I love them both equally and they are so different in style and gameplay that they make each game a great experience.

Still have NSMB2 to play on the 3DS from last Christmas and WW HD so still lots more fun to be had with nintendo (and thats before I buy Rayman Legends and Pikmin 3).

Merry Christmas Nintendo. Anyone who turns a nose up on the Wii U is really missing out on a great console and some amazing games this year and in the future.

I love my Wii U so much, I sold my PS4.

There are a few on Nintendo Land I think - I'm thinking of the Zelda and Metroid games.

If playing 4P in those I guess you'd all need them then? I don't fancy getting another 3.

Pikmin 3. Mario 3D World.

Can 3D World be played just with a remote sideways as P3/4 though? Was hoping it's be one on the gamepad, one with remote + nunchuk then any more without.

Was there ever anything else they released that plugged into the wiimote other than the nunchuck where you used both at once? When it first came out I though that they'd release loads of different modular controller options (sort of like the rumble pack with Lylat Wars).

Nintendoland Zelda doesn't use the nunchuk, it's all about the swordplay. Me, my daughter and her boyfriend have spent an age playing that game and we still haven't completed the final level. Doesn't help that I'm usually a bottle of wine gone by the time we put it on but it's an excellent game.

So if I were to buy a second nunchuck it'd only have to be used for the Metroid game in Nintendoland and that's it? To be honest I only kept the one so I could play through my unfinished Wii games properly.

It's all I can think of on the Wii U that absolutely needs it, yes. As others have pointed out, Pikmin 3 has a great multiplayer mode and is much better with nunchuk and wiimote than it is with Gamepad, but even then I guess it's not essential.

Even for the Metroid game, you can play one person as the spaceship using the Gamepad and one person on foot using the nunchuk. So it's not required even for that.
