Nintendo Wii U

Guys, I want a Wii U right now. I don't think I'll be able to go many more days without Mario 3D World in my posession. I currently can't find any of those lovely £199.99 deals, so I'm sorely tempted to buy that £300 Nintendo bundle. It has the games I want, I like the Mario Wiimote and the hat only sweetens the deal. Would it be madness to make such a purchase? Would you judge me harshly for doing so? I should probably at least wait until tomorrow for any special deals, right? The bundle isn't available til tomorrow anyway.

There's a Game opposite my work, so I could have one RIGHT NOW if I wanted, but I think I can at least show enough restraint to avoid doing that. I think. It's lovely to be this excited about a new console, but I fear my childlike excitement is going to lead me into a very poor decision.

Erm. Help?

Premium edition on the Amazon Black Friday lightning deals tomorrow at 8.15am. It comes with Nintendo Land and it's currently £229.99. May get reduced to £190ish. Do it!!!

I know they announced it will support 2 after complaints, but nearly a year later and you still can't buy the WUP seperately, I wouldn't be surprised if they just don't bother at this point, one of the early things put forward for it was 2 player John Madden Football, so you could do the secret play calling (like on the Dreamcast), but that's no longer a reason to bring it out.

I actually think they'll be more open to experiment with the software possibilities in time. (I'd give it another year or two) This is Nintendo, I don't think there's anything of their console/handheld features that they've released but not tried to make something out of it at least once.

Give it time. You can give me money later.

I've nearly just wet myself  Just found Graduis and Super Ghouls N Ghosts in the eshop :omg: Some of you might be to young to remember these but I f***ing loved these 2 games at the arcade in the 80's. Also placed Super Mario World (snes version) on wish list as I hardly played it when i had my SNES and i've heard from the grapevine it's not a bad little game ;)

Early impressions of the hardware are very good. I'm slightly surprised how good the gamepad looks and sounds, better than I was expecting. The only slight disappointment is that the range doesn't seem that far. I had visions of my sat playing it in bed while the wii U was still in my man cave along the landing.

I've downloaded all the updates and stuff so i'm free tomorrow to have a good play on Super Mario Bros U and perhaps Super Mario U but I think realistically I won't pick that up until Saturday. Also picked up the pro controller which feels really nice and comfortable.

All n all, very exciting stuff :hat:

The TV and pad are displaying different frames, what?

Check that you don't have any of that ClearScan100 crap switched on on your TV. Select "GAME" TV mode if it has it, or go through your TV options to switch that post-processing shit off.

I had it left on by accident because I'd plugged my new console into a fresh HDMI port. I couldn't understand why NSMBU was slightly laggy. Because of that I kept dying repeatedly on the very first Goomba.

That won't make the slightest difference in this case. The Wii U it creating the screenshot directly before the TV gets it.

Cancelled my Amazon Wii U order yesterday.

Slightly regretted it. Wish I had bought the Mario and Luigi bundle a while back.

Woke up, saw the offer at play.com and bought it! Wifey told me to not to cancel this time, she knows I want one and plans to get Mario 3D World for Christmas to play. Next gen is here... apparently another console is coming out today too.

Cheers for telling me what I wanted to hear yesterday and for the very timely updates about bargains this morning. I'm glad I had the will power to hang on til today in the hope of Black Friday deals and it has paid off. I ended up getting the £199.99 deal from Play and then picking up the other stuff I wanted individually. I won't be getting a Mario hat but I have saved significant moneys. I did it guys. I did it. No... Wii did it.

No, wii U did it.

God damn wish I'd have got that one, prefer the box as it looks more proper Nintendo :( Oh well at least the pack I did get will be here today.

Actually, what are Amazon returns like on stuff like this? Could I just send back my Lego City & Rayman Wii U and get my money back?

So, I cancelled my PS4 preorder yesterday afternoon in Game & picked up a Wii U M / L pack with The Wonderful 101 instead! :)

Got it all set up this morning ( after picking up 3D Mario too ) & played a bit of both Mario games so far, got a couple of questions:

Is the drive supposed to be so noisy, even when I'm sat at the main menu?

Can I turn the gamepad screen off when I'm playing either Mario game as it is just mirroring the tv which is really annoying?

I can't seem to link my Wii U to my Club Nintendo account, even though the email address & password are correct because I can login via the website, is there something I'm missing?

Thanks.

Drive's always noisy if the disc is in. NNID and club nintendo accounts are different things. Just don't look at the pad.

Hmm, apparently neither Amazon or DPD know where this is at the moment anyway and it may be lost, so I've bought the Mario one from Play/Shopto and apparently I can just refuse the Amazon one if it turns up and they'll refund it. So, somewhat inadvertently I'll end up with the nicer looking box and have the games I wanted to begin with :)

edit: And I got a couple of free months of Prime too. Wahey!
