Nintendo Wii U

Contemplated Pikmin 3, but I didn't really enjoy the first two Pikmin games, so I can't see the point in playing another game in a series that I don't like all that much, particularly as it is more of the same. I'm sure it's good fun for Pikmin fans, however, but I'm not one of them.

Played the demo of Wonderful 101, and ten minutes of that put me off the game forever, to be honest.

Play the full game. I was confused as hell by the demo too.

Also, Lego City Undercover.

I've got the full game (Wonderful 101) and it's even more confusing than the demo, It does look great if you're great at it but I'm not great at it and I'm not the kind of person who will spend time uncovering how you actually play the fucking thing. It really does seem like you have to play through the whole games once to even begin to understand what's going on. Which would be okay but running from big thing to big thing isn't that much fun.

The first boss where you have to fill up the eye on the snake. WTF? Did anybody work that out for themselves?

I think the WiiU is a disappointment. I think the machine and gamepad are great but there's no, imo, YOU GOTTA PLAY THIS games.

I didn't like Pikmin, Don't like W101. Fucking hate NSMBU Luigi.

Lego City was really good. Loved Little Inferno. Wind Waker's Wind Waker.

Can't quite believe what they've done with WiiFit. WiiFit they've just released the old game again but with a Pokewalker.

If the PS4 was backwards compatible I'd be looking to order one of those, tbh. Had as much fun on Rayman, Runner 2, Batman AC and NFSMW than on any of the Nintendo games.

Yeah, I think Nintendo have really fucked it. More than that I think they know and don't seem that bothered. I mean, all the adverts on TV are for Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics.

My only real problem with the Wii U is the stupidly slow interface. I can't even fathom how they've managed to make it so slow.

The games might have come along sooner but they're currently arriving at faster pace than I fully play them. My wife has just got into Pikmin 3 so enjoying that again and working up to another go at tackling that swamp boss myself.

NintendoLand is still a joy when we have people around.

I don't see anything on the other consoles that I fancy playing at the moment so I'm glad I have it. Tech-lust means I still want a PS4 but there are no games on it (for me).

I honesly don't think the interface is that slow, personally. I've tested booting it up against my PS3 slim and my 360 slim and it's faster to get to the main menu screen than both of them.

It's the swapping between screens/sections/apps. Takes aaages. Boot up is fine. Doing anything with the machine feels like you spend more time waiting than anything else. This is a solid-state device it should be instant.

I don't find the interface slow either.

This is what really bothers me about Nintendo. They've made all the games I want to play this generation.

Man, if Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion, MarioKart and all the little games like Pullblox were on the WiiU I'd be happy. It's like Nintendo are competing with themselves and that's fucked up.

Picross!

A friend asked recently, "What is the first game exclusive to next gen consoles that is a must have game?" My answer? Mario 3D World! Titanfall, Destiny, Watch Dogs, all of these so called "must have" games, all available on 360 or PS3, so not "make you want to buy next gen console" yet.

Mario 3D World is the only next gen game on the horizon that everyone should own.

The interface is slow, it used to be shockingly slow and now its just slow - switching between apps takes a while, i guess we are too used to insta switching on phones and tablets etc!

FWIW the PS3 is painfully slow also, hit the PSN button in game and waaaaaaaaait - 360 has the speed licked until we are all next gen...

If you liked Bayonetta, you'll love TW101. It's the same thing. I find it baffling how the former received critical acclaim and then the latter didn't. In some ways it's better than Bayonetta.

Well I was quite excited about the prospect of Rayman Legends in the Black Friday deal, but when I refreshed my screen at 10:15 they'd all gone

If you want Rayman Legends, it's £19.99 in GAME. You can be playing it today.

Also, if you buy a Wii U you can get it for the bargainous price of £20.00 :P

*Nintendoland was £15 preowned too. I nearly bought it despite not having a Wii U yet.

I bought the poverty spec pack last year and still haven't got round to picking up Wiimotes and a sensor bar, what would be the most cost effective way of getting a couple of official motion plus controllers and a sensor bar?

I bought 2 of the Wii Party U packs from Game for £31.99 each (think they are same price at amazon now). I took the games out and sold them as new on ebay for £20 each, they sold within 3 hours of listing. So, basically, got the Wiimotes (with motion plus built in) for £12 each.

Tempting. Description mentioned it also comes with Lego Batman 2 (which is pretty good, played on PS3) but that may be a mistake.
