Nintendo Wii U

Over the past 12 months, there were a mixture of rumours and wishful thinking that Nintendo would bring out a dongle to play 3DS games on the Wii U. What seems to be more likely is that there'll be ports of 3DS games, like Luigi's Mansion 2 (as speculated). It'd be an easy way to plug the gaps in the Wii U release schedule.

I would sell my soul to the devil for Luigi's Mansion 2 on wii U.

Nintendo will end up converging the portable and the home console into one device. The gap in tech is closing, 3D has not been a deal breaker, and with Nintendo struggling to supply two machines with inhouse content, the quality of software for a future hybrid would be amazing.

I think this is what their next machine will be. It may even be an iteration on what we already have. No idea if it's possible but their next handheld may just be a Gamepad type thing that you can transfer games on to from the Wii U or something.

WEhat with Sony building on the Gamepad idea and making it work like you would want it to (away from home console gaming as opposed to handheld a few feet away from your console) I really think this is what they will do. It seems a bit of a no brainer when you look at it now. You could even have them semi separate in regards to being able to buy handheld games but play them on your big screen, or play your console games on your handheld.

They've had the idea ever since the Super GameBoy :omg:

I suspect future nintendo software will have different modes - one optomised for small-screen portable play, one for big screen HD play. A bit like how you can adjust your laptop for AC or battery use. Stuff like texture detail, text size, motion controller input...

By the way (I know I'm derailing a topic I was also talking about but I've been meaning to ask for a while and only just remembered) is there a rllmuk Wii Fit U club thing? It says you can join them but need to put in one of those ever easy to remember massive codes, rather than just something simple like searching by name.

Genuine question. I bought my Wii U after a load of PR vids showing off the Wii U features. I remember a golf game being shown where the player had the Wii U pad on the floor with a golf ball on screen of the pad, then the player used their motion plus controller as the golf club to hit the ball into the TV, the TV showing the ball dropping onto the fairway. Then another video of a Baseball game where the player was using the Wii U pad to zoom in on the ball in order to catch it.

Has there actually been any games that have used this feature?

I feel as though there is load of potential that hasn't been used.

Both of those wil be released soon as part of Wii Sports Club U.

I'm looking forward to ordering my Fit meter, I somehow prefer the setup of this Wii Fit for some reason, the routines that you can pick against time and how much you want to burn is a better way of doing things and makes me do some of the activities I never really bothered with on the original.

Because of the above I did a few of the beginner dance things that were actually strangely amusing, using two wiimotes for your arms is quite clever too and gets round the fact you can normally 'cheat' on Wii dance things. Admittedly using two wiimotes and the balance board and it still not being as accurate as Dance Central on Kinect is a bit of a faff but it's got that Nintendo charm which saves it. Hula is comedy, these hips don't lie. Or something.

The climbing is actually pretty good as well, only had one pop at it but pretty enjoyable and the rowing is good too.

The only thing that it is missing IMO is any weights stuff, I mix up the exercises on this with actually doing some dumbbell stuff in between to level it out as if anything I need to bulk up a bit. Perhaps I should speak to resident BeefCake CrispinG :)

Apologies in advance for the boring post.

I've realised that games are starting to, we'll not be as much fun for me as they used to. They're all so much hard work! (Massive over reaction and generalisation, I know) I'm really enjoying fun little games now primarily on my 3DS or arcade titles as they seem to have a better chance of being short and sweet for me.

I've now cancelled my PS4 order as it does seem to be more of the same. Considering the Wii U, I'm not looking to use it for third party titles- I'd use it for a pure first party system only unless something special comes out and for once it would be nice to have a system that I have a smaller number of great titles for and no filler.

So my question is what's the current list of Nintendo titles? I can't seem to find a list that looks complete but I'll be honest and say I'm a bit confused over some of the Mario titles in particular!

I went a bit mad one evening when I saw that the Miiverse messages people would see could be customised for different contexts. It's such a lovely way of integrating Miiverse.

I've only played one match online. I mostly just play locally instead. :(

I like the Tennis a lot more now I know the side of the court you return the ball to is dictated by timing rather than how you swing.

Nintendo developed titles:

New Super Mario Bros U, Nintendo Land, Game and Wario, Pikmin 3, New Super Luigi U (standalone or DLC).

EDIT: WIND WAKER WIND WAKER WIND WAKER WIND WAKER

Obviously Super Mario 3D World is coming out.

On the eShop you also have Wii Sports Club and Wii Fit U (until the retail release next month).

There's also that karaoke thing and Wii Party U. Nintendo also published Lego City Undercover.

What are you confused about?
