I hope Nintendo do a new Metroid game that's nothing like Other M.

Sad face. For all its flaws, there was a lot to like about Other M. I'd love for Nintendo to have a go at the same style of "2.5" Metroid, if Team Ninja isn't up to it.

Mind you, a first-person Metroid using the pad as a scanner wouldn't go amiss either. Drool.

I have found the look of the New Super Mario Brothers games very boring unfortunately. It's one of the things that have put me off the Wii U - Nintendo getting stuck in a creative rut.

3D World looks wonderful though. Fingers crossed.

I hope Nintendo do a new Metroid game that's nothing like Other M.

I really help the new Zelda is a revolution for the series. TP and SS didn't excite me from what I saw.

Don't let the look of NSMBU put you off, it's really fun.

My little boys Wii U, NSMBU and PIKMIN are staying in their boxes until Christmas day accoring to my wife. The temptation to set it up whilst he's at school is unbearable.

I should check it for dead pixels, right?

The New Super Mario Bros games are superficially samey looking but I promise you NSMB U has creativity in spades. Some of the levels are as inventive as anything. But I suspect you have to play it to see beyond the screenshots. So it's a leap of faith. Get jumping!

Is there a list of recommended, lesser-known Wii games on here somewhere? Every time I look in the second hand bit in shops it's the same old shite but there must be a load of good stuff that passed me by. I bought Super Mario Galaxy 2 today and oh my. I still have both Zeldas to play too but they can wait until the 3DS one is done.

If you don't mind the motion controls, de Blob is fun (but jumping is a pain in the arse). Also No More Heroes but again some of the minigames are duff and the 'overworld' is laughable. At the time I didn't mind so much but those bits probably haven't aged well.

Zack and Wiki is pretty good but the controls are hit and miss so some of the puzzles might be frustrating. I have Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story but haven't gotten round to them, plus Pandora's Tower is meant to be special.

If you're a massive Mario fan then get Super Paper Mario, the first two thirds are good but then the rest of the game is a terrible slog. I really enjoyed Metroid Prime 3 on release but full disclosure, I played it on a 25" CRT.

Then you've got Smash Bros and Mario Kart if you don't fancy waiting for the Wii U versions. Trauma Centre is pretty fun but I haven't played that in about 5 years.

this is true. I have Virgin's mega internet thingy and my wiiU is right next to it. Still took 2.5 hours just to download the update. it wont let you play until you update :-(

Popped into CEX and saw ZombiU for £8. I didn't get on with he demo but for the price of a chubby girl porn DVD i thought i'd give it a go.

There are loads of bargains for the Wii U at the moment. I have a stupid pile of shame across the Wii U, 3DS and PS3. I'm not gonna get Super Mario 3D World until i complete a few games first :( Better get playing then. My WII U to do list comprises of Darksiders 2 (currently playing), Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Batman Arkham City and of course ZombiU.

I'm another one thats cancelled my PS4 pre order. Lots of fun to be had on the Wii U. I can see this being a good Christmas for Nintendo.

All these new Wii U owners, cancelled PS4 pre-orders and Smitty getting involved!!

I was fully in the 'no idea what the Wii U can do and not interested its shit lol' camp before Wind Waker HD steered me towards an impluse purchase. Now I think its amazing and cancelled my own PS4 preorder. Some great games on the system and a lot to look forward too on the horizon, optimistic that Nintendo are going to knock it out of the park over the next year or so with some quality first party franchises.

So what's on the radar for the platform?

Exclusives? We've got Mario this month. Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Yoshi's Epic Yarn or whatever it's called, X and Donkey Kong spread across 2014. Project CARS isn't technically exclusive but I think it'll come first to Wii U on consoles.

Then there's Lego Marvel, Child of Light, Yakuza 1 and 2 HD (maybe), and Watch_Dogs. Yakuza is unlikely but not impossible, the rest should all come out by March 2014. Plus we'll get Nintendo Directs from now till then.

'Completed' NSMB-U, some of the levels are bastard hard as nails! Proper old school. Strangely, I did the last set of levels first time, must have settled into the Mario zone. Great final boss too.

Now to try and get all the star coins!

Cursed Mountain and Day of Disaster.

+1 for Cursed Mountain. It really tried something different and, some badly implemented waggle aside, was a genuinely mature and very atmospheric game with an unusual setting. I loved it.

Anybody hate the Wii but like the WiiU? I mean, to me they're not that different and by that I mean I think Smitty would hate the WiiU.

Oh yes. I thought the Wii was shit for the most part. The wiiu is one of the best game consoles I've ever owned.

Well, transferring my Wii data over was becoming a real pain in the ass until that Pikmin animation appeared... I can't stay mad at you, Nintendo.

Ha, me too. It crashed half way through, but recovered fine (thank fuck!).

I was distraught when that man was left behind!

Thankfully not!
