Not a trap at all, just the cursor comes up on top of the quote. I didn't think it mattered all that much to be honest.

Pretty sure this is a trap, but if not...

Every time you quote a post, you reply to the quote by typing above it, rather than below it.

Is that better?

I find the review copies tend to go to those happiest to give a positive spin in their review or lots of cheap advertising in the mag/site

the days of honest reviews are long gone and they are now few and far between as far as I can tell. Just one man's opinion mind you.

I tend to prefer to go by word of mouth on here or facebook now as to whether I might enjoy a game or not.

So they've not even played it?

What a load of bullshit, on top of bullshit.

Yeah man, of course.

I was just under the impression those twats got stuff early.

  • WILDCARD) Zombi U (Looks to be absolute trash, but Darksouls-esque FPS Zombi Roguelike has gotta be worth a punt for a tenner)
Where do people get the idea that ZombiU is trash from - it's awesome. Those early, and very wrong, reviews have a lot to answer for.

Oh how I yearn for a sequel. They got so much right, and there is so much potential for more. For shame on us gamers for basically killing a potential franchise like this.

The 2 mins of the demo I played looked well ropey. Still too scary for me though.

ZombiU does have some pretty big flaws - the two I'm most annoyed with is that it desperately needs a melee weapon system. Using a cricket bat for the entire game (or at least the first 7 hours or so, which is how far in I am) without any way to swap weapons, change attack speed or just tweak the gameplay is just really poor and hurts the longevity of the game. I also really dislike how it spawns zombies next to you - an unforgivable crime in a roguelike. If I've cleared out a room it needs to stay clear - don't just spawn half a dozen zombies in the when I turn around. I remember using a doors keypad and for some reason loads of zombies suddenly appeared.

Pretty much all the demos on the Wii are shite. They are nothing like the retail games.

Most drop you right in at the deep end and/or with no explanation of what to do.

Where was this? I can't remember a load of zombies spawning in anywhere in the manner you describe.

As for the melee weapons, yeah, it could have done with a bit more variety but it wasn't anyway near a deal breaker for me.

It could have done with a bit of variety in the melee weapon selection sure - but it's not just flat. Your ability with the cricket bat (and all the other weapons) does increase the more you use it - and resets again when you die, making it another reason to stay alive. By the end, I was significantly skilled with the bat - but still knew full well that taking on more than 1-2 zombies at a time with it was asking for trouble.

I never felt like I was so tooled up I could handle anything - I always felt a little on-edge. That was the beauty to me, that was what it got so right. I wasn't Arnie or Sly, I was Ivor the traffic warden.

I never had that issue with the zombies either, I always felt like they played fair with them (and the scanner was invaluable).

Do the people that dish out review copies of games not check to see how reputable the publication is first?

They've stated many times that they have the ability of 10,000 years of time travel (of the future). Pretty easy to review stuff that way I imagine!

Do it Smitty! JOIN USSS.

My lot spent the whole of yesterday evening/night from getting home from school, to bedtime (10.30 for the oldest one) on the Wii U. All four of them playing together, not a single request to stop and watch telly instead, even from the trash reality TV addicted 12 year old. I think that's a first.

I've made them promise to let me join in tonight. :D
