I'm getting the same with my motion plus dongle. But I've also noticed that when I point the wiimote at the sensor bar, it seems to correct ( or know that it's pointing forward).

So either it's dodgy with the dongle or they now use the sensor to also calibrate- and maybe other light sources are impacting on it?

But yeah, it seems to drift (to the left).

There's an option in the settings screen to turn 'Sensor Bar Assist' on or off, but I'm not sure if that refers to auto-calibration or if it's just for pointer controls on the menu screens. One of the loading screens mentions pressing down on the d-pad to re-centre it in-game for the tennis, just like WSR did.

Played three games of tennis last night, won two and lost the other by the narrowest of margins. Both times I won I was playing Frenchmen.

Is it just me or is the spin reversed when you're hitting a forehand? This is something I noticed when I played the original too. As you swing forward, if you rotate the Wiimote so the bottom rotates towards the front, then the ball is given topspin. It should be the other way around.

Also played bowling against a German, a Greek and a Czech. I won, but I reckon I could do better ...

I hold it side on, if I swing and turn the face towards the telly, I get top spin... if I swing and turn the face away from the telly, I get backspin... which seems to make sense.

Finished Wind Waker a few days ago and moved on to Pikmin 3. What a lovely game. I'm currently 6 days in and am really enjoying the experience. The game looks lovely, has beautiful music and is peppered with humour throughout. I've not tried playing with the wiimote as I'm finding the standard wiiu controller does the job well. How many days do i get to play through, or is it simply a case of the game keeps going until supplies run out?

Going until supplies run out.

I have no huge fondness for the previous Pikmin games but I thought Pikmin 3 was approaching masterpiece status. So playable and playful. I started with the Wiimote and have no idea how you'd play it on the GamePad.

Should I get Spin the Bottle?

Not yet IMO. It's nicely done, but until the update bringing a few more games over is in place it's a bit light. My daughter loves it, but she love My Little Pony and Winx Club so her opinion is instantly invalid.

That said, if you buy it now you get it for the reduced price - once the update is out it's going to go up (and the same with each subsequent update is the plan I believe). So, it might be worth investing now just so that you get the better price and are set when the update finally hits (which isn;t far off because according to the devs Twitter they are doing final testing on the new games now).

Wii Fit U dudes, what kinda controller setup am I going to need for this?

I have the board coming with my copy of the game, the gamepad obviously, but I only have 1 motion plus controller, is that going to be enough?

There are some events at least that require two, not sure how many though, and the boxing requires either two or a nunchuk. I had it on for an hour last night on a random selection and only came across one that needed two to start.

Sorry if this has been answered already but a quick question about Wii U Fit. I know you need the meter but do you need a full copy of the game too? I'm sure I read somewhere that you could download the demo and if you bought the meter it'd activate the demo into the full game. Have I been sniffing too much glue or is this correct as it seems too good to be true.

It's true - if you buy the meter it'll basically give you the full game free (as long as you do so before the end of Jan I believe).

Yeah that seems odd, there's a game + meter pack, and you can buy the meters separately...

I could understand it if they were the same price for people who weren't able to download the software, but the meters are £20 and the game + meter £50.

Here is the blurb from Amazon:

You can unlock the permanent version of the software just by pairing-up a Fit Meter , with your Wii U system. This removes the 31-day time limit, so you can continue playing the game for as long as you like, and there’s no need to re-download the software. The Fit Meter records your steps and detects changes in activity level, altitude and atmospheric pressure, so that Wii Fit U can help you keep track of your daily physical activity level.

Paid download version is available to download from Nintendo eShop on February 1st 2014. After the promotion period is over, the 31-free days trail version of Wii Fit U will be removed, and the paid download version* of Wii Fit U will be made available for purchase from Nintendo eShop. The regular download version will not have a time limitation for use. A Fit Meter is not mandatory to play but it may be used to enjoy several additional features of the software

As it's been said there are a few that require two m+ controllers - although by far the majority are the dancing games.

If that's your bag. But board, controller and one m+ does cover the majority of things.

Wrong bloody post to quote.

Wouldn't this encourage people to buy it early and NOT have to pay for the software on the eShop?

There's a quote from Iwata at that investor meeting where he said that people tend to buy more stuff digitally after getting something from the eShop for the first time, so this Wii Fit thing and the 3DS download code promotions are a way of kickstarting that.

No, because you need to download the game in the first place. A positive first experience is vital to getting consumers to return and what could be more positive than a discount of £30 solely for visiting the eShop? :)

It's not the file that matters it's breaking the ice with a digital purchase.

Lots of free-to-play games on iOS have a 'no brainer' item (coin doubler etc.) which exists mainly to break that ice and get that first purchase out of the way even if it's at the cheapest price band possible.
