Nintendo Wii U

Just had a go on Wii Sports Club. It's great having these games back now in crisp HD - as I love the original games. Tennis is the most noticeably updated now with proper motion plus controls. Will give it a proper go tonight with some friends :)

To be honest, I didn't think I was particularly good until a friend from University claimed he was unbeatable at Wii Tennis, and so naturally I was all "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!" at that. He won the first game, but I won the second and third.

A friend at work told me that there was no way that I would beat him at Wii Tennis. We had a £5 bet over a pint one evening.

Six months later, loads of people came around to my flat for a Singstar party, but before we started that I put on Wii Bowling for people to play while we had some food. Once everyone was settling down on the sofas, Ken (for that was his name), reminded me of our bet.

So, in front of an audience, with no practice, we agreed to a best-of-five game. Ken had come prepared; he got his Wiimote out of his bag, transferred his Mii onto my console, and we were ready to play.

He won a single point.

Hi all. Sorry if this has been discussed to death already, but I'm in need of some extra storage for my Wii U (I bought a basic console when they were going cheap), but I have no idea what I'm looking for when it comes to external hard drives. Ideally I'd want a white one to match the console, but when it comes to brands and prices I'm clueless, so any advice would be appreciated!

Also, I don't know anyone else with a Wii U, so if anyone wants to add me for some Wii Sports competition, feel free. My NNID is devilcrash.

Buy a white 2.5" caddy on ebay with the Y splitter usb lead and put any 2.5" drive you have inside - i have done that but with a blue case!

I'm getting a PS4 in like 8 days and I still can't decide on what game to buy. I'm just getting something that will take advantage of the upgraded visual power because there really isn't anything that looks fun. So it's either Killzone or Battlefield and I can't stress how tired I am of FPS games. How bizarre is it that Super Mario 3D is the ONLY upcoming game this year that excites me? I'm actually tempted to buy a WiiU now. Crazy times.

Downloaded and installed Wii Sports Club, which was very painful with the 20 minute update, but such things are to be expected when everyone else will be downloading it as well. I already pretty much knew I was going to buy the lifetime passes, but still tried everything in single player first. Suffice it to say that it is still Wii Sports, except more of it, so you already know if you need to bother downloading it or not. I'm a bit annoyed at the actual Club aspect being as limited as it appears to be, but other than that it's all just as lovely as expected.

Does it still have the challenge mode things from the original game? Are there more of them?

I may be misremembering, but let's take Bowling as the example. You start with three choices, which are Online, Local, and Skill S...omething. Say you choose Local? You get a 10 pin game, a 100 pin game, or Triple Whammy. Skill S ...hit, why can't I remember this ... similarly splits into three further sub-games. As far as I recall, Bowling originally had the regular game, the Power game, and a spares game? So, at least to me, it feels like there is a bit more meat on the bones. Things like stamps for various achievements don't matter, they are there for those who care. And, for all I know there is more variety still online, but I pretty much had to bribe the boy in order to do what little I have done so far!

Stamps being in there is great - they added a lot of longevity to the single player in Resort.

Lost a tennis match and some Mii appeared and told me I'm letting down the villiage of Ramsbottom (nearby to me).

I'm not sure if my controller is wonky or I'm not quite understanding the controls. Sometimes I can position the racket on the right side of my Mii (and back and forth to left), other times it seems locked to the left side. That's the only time I feel I'm not properly controlling it.
