Nintendo Wii U

I dunno, I saw a lot of people posting one mundane update after the other only to later find myself doing it too. No in game prompt or anything though I'd imagine I probably opted in to it at some point? I'm sure I can probably turn it off but I've not seen a way to do that.

Wii Party U is absolutely great. I never played the Wii game, so it's all new to me, but it's fantastic having something so immediate that I can play with my girlfriend without hand holding yet it still be competitive. Even the ludicrous total non games like seeing randomly guessing which bush an ostrich will look behind first are great fun.

It can be turned off. I'm sure I saw someone mention it at NeoGAF.

Anybody else going to really try and use the Wii Fit U every day during the trial? That's my plan anyway, and if I lose weight I will treat myself to a Fit Meter for December.

Kids are battering me in the high scores now they are a few years older though :)

Being able to check your daily pedometer stuff without using the telly really makes a big difference. I've yet to try training, but played the games with the kids and they're a laugh.

I'm assuming all new WiiUs will have this as a 30 day trial, along with karaoke and sports club pre-installed??

Chris: I think having the Fit Meter will encourage you more than solely using the app. For the sake of £20 I think your potential gains will be much greater.

Example: Until recently I had a NikeFuel band and used it to track my movement every day from the day I got it until I sent it back last month to be repaired (it's still there).

I got really into not only reaching my targets, but increasing them, then utterly smashing them. I was always a bit annoyed when I fell short, even to the point of going on extra runs, jogging on the spot or doing a few hundred (yes) star jumps in the evening before bed. I actually miss having the feedback there every day to encourage me to get up and move.

It's akin to having a daily high score challenge and it's fun and addictive.

I'm hoping the Wii Fit Meter will encourage me and others to do the same.

What's the best image host to use to take screenshots from the Wii U Browser? I didn't realise this was even a thing until the weekend but it seems pretty neat, ideally I'd want one with an Android app so I could access pictures posted easily.

It'd better be worth it.

It is. It really is.

Just remember it's not CoD - don't try to play it like that. You'll die. A lot. Be cautious, be patient. Be a survivor.

Also, just a little warning, there is a very odd difficulty spike right near the start - push through it though as it's the only time it's really off that way.

How to do that bit easily:

When the break in siren thing goes off, leave the safe room, head to the right along the wall. There is a barrier which you can jump over. Turn around and let the zombies come to you. They will all crawl under the barrier. Smash their heads in when given the prompt. You may get one or two trying to come from behind or the side. You will have time to deal with these though, especially if they come from your right as they have to climb through a broken window, when you can smash them up good again.

Do it this way and lose no lives. Simple.

I've never played CoD, so we're good.

I get what you mean though. I'll be saving it for when I go back and visit my young nieces. We were all absolutely papping ourselves when I accidentally dropped into an abandoned mine in MInecraft at the weekend. I was loaded with minerals I'd been digging up for around an hour and only had a stone sword to work with. It was so tense. It was so funny to hear the youngest say "Oh no, I can't watch!!1" and then turn away from the screen with her hands over her ears.

Hoping this will up the ante somewhat.

Jesus, it has an 18 on the box for a reason. This is not like Minecraft.

I had problems with the tray balance game on Wii Fit U. I couldn't get my Mii to hardly move. I was trying all manner of stepping motions. I bet I looked a right twat.

I'm taking the fit meter down the gym tonight. Should produce some interesting data.

Alright, selling my PS4 preorder and fully intending to get a Wii U before Xmas. I just have a few question if I may:

I believe it will let me play Wii games. Xenoblade is on my wish list in particular. I also believe I cannot use the tablet controller, but can I use the pro controller thing (the one that looks like a 'normal' pad)?

How many hours use would I get from the controller before it needs a charge, also can it be plugged in while I continue to play?

Kids games. Obviously there's the upcoming 3D Mario, anything else out now or before Xmas that a 4 and 7 year old might enjoy? For reference they enjoy the Lego games, F1 Race Stars, Animal Crossing etc.

How likely is a Zelda or Mario + premium console for £200 in the next month or so?

Thanks!
