Nintendo Wii U

PS4 cancelled. I don't need anything getting in the way of my Wii U.

I'm buying both! But to be brutally honest both X Rebirth and Super Mario 3D World look miles better than any of the next-gen launch titles on both formats. Won't stop me from enjoying the new shiny hypeness though

Ok. Is 101 actually that impressive?

Yes. Yes it is.

Anything else coming out before xmas other than Mario?

Not from Nintendo I don't think (now that DK has been delayed) no (well, other than Wii Party U). That said, could be a good time to show some third-party support:

Batman: Arkham Origins

AS IV: Black Flag

Deus Ex (if you've not already played it on another format)

Yeah, it is. And yeah, you do.

It takes a little bit of dedication to get the absolute most out of it. But if you want to learn it's systems it's massively rewarding.

A new rumor making the rounds on the internet is touting the idea that Nintendo will be making a “ReUmagined” series in which the company gives seven Nintendo 64 games “the Wind Waker HD treatment,” remaking them in HD to be sold on the Wii U eShop. Supposedly, Super Mario 64 would be the first title, followed by six others, and all seven games would feature new content and retail at $30. The idea is that Nintendo would be filling gaps in their Wii U lineup of games by re-releasing the old N64 classics.

Some of the details on the hypothetical Mario 64 remake include a two-player mode in which both Mario and Luigi can be controlled simultaneously, with one camera following Mario on the main screen, and the other following Luigi on the gamepad. Does this all sound too good to be true? If the ReUmagined series turned out to be real, which N64 games would you want to see remade into Wii U titles? Let us know in the comments!

Super Mario 64, F-Zero X, Majora's Mask, Paper Mario, Wave Race, Pilotwings and I don't know.

I'd rather Majora's Mask on 3DS though and to be honest, if they could get Goldeneye and Rogue Squadron on there, that'd be awesome.

Sounds like wishful thinking. I think N64 stuff would need a hell of a lot of work to look good in HD.

Could they not use the Mario 3D World engine for Super Mario 64? Sort of like Throwback Galaxy but not as sparse.

Well anything is possible. I'm speaking from the perspective of these being quick projects. Windwaker was reasonably straightforward because it looked great anyway and could benefit from extra resolution and fancy lighting/shaders without having to rebuild the geometry or throw much away. They could possibly do the same thing with other GC games. N64 stuff would likely require a lot more work so wouldn't be quick and easy/cheap to do.

If they do upscale Mario 64, they should probably do it from the DS version. It's already got a load of extra stuff and most or all of the assets were upgraded, so they would upscale a little better at least.

This rumour is obviously not true though, it's come from the same idiot who started the 'Starfox - Metroid: Fusion Saga' rumour.

Ah, fair enough. I suppose for $30 though it's not like they couldn't manage it. And it'd entice people like me who already have Mario 64 twice.

To be fair like where the fuck are the N64 and Gamecube games on the eShop? At this point have they even mentioned them ever maybe happening?

They mentioned 'looking into' N64 titles being added. Reggie mentioned before Wii U's release that he'd 'love to see Gamecube titles' on VC.

Yeah. They just sit around doing nothing. Silly Nintendo.

They really do. Just look at the Wii era.

But I did mean more in the sense of projects that take longer then 6-8months they're not really fond of these days. Outside of Zelda. Like it or not 3D World was already made via 3D Land.

Yeah, I said it before, they seem terrified that their backcatalogue will somehow cannibalise sales, when if anything it would do the opposite. Someone rinsing Super Mario Kart every night before the new one comes out would be more likely to take a punt on the new one. If you've got the Gamecube Animal Crossing up on the eShop, someone who's ignored all the subsequent releases might have that hunger back and plump for a 3DS.

It's marketing that the customer pays for, why wouldn't you want it?

What are you even on about?
