Popped into Sainsbury's on the way home from work and bought a couple games. Pikmin 3 was marked up as £34.99, but went through at £17.50. LEGO City Undercover LE was priced at £22.50 as well. So I got that one too.

I've just driven around three stores in my area and none of them had either of these. Gutted! If anyone else plans to head out and pick these up and wouldn't mind grabbing extra copies I would be more than happy to cover postage/petrol and a bit more for your trouble.

the kids (and you) will LOVE nintendoland, it is brilliant fun. LCU is great too from what i hear. as for ZombiU, it really is absolutely marvellous. you will shit yourself at parts.

so many other great games too, NSMBU, mario 3d, pikmin, w101, all the vc stuff...

*breathes*

You've met DrDerekDoctors and you've not played his brilliant LCU? He'll not be getting you a beer at the Bury Beer Festival.

I went to my local to see if they had any (after picking up the £200 WW bundle yesterday) and left disappointed, though I did get NSMBU for £25. So it's not all bad.

I know, I know. That's if he makes it this year!

You are coming aren't you?

We'll both be there, it's the cultural highlight of the year.

Back on topic I checked my WiiU stats and I've played more than 30 hours on 3 separate games which is rare for me. Less successful is the <2 hours I've spent with Pikmin 3.

I actually feel bad for NEG right now.

There's a new Sonic game out and he's on here posting "Wah Wah" instead of playing it - that can't bode well for his fave series :(

You can blame Pokemon for my lack of time playing Sonic, actually. Well and just generally busy.

I'll never understand the dislike of NSMBU. There's not another 2D platformer out there to beat it. Legends is good, but it's not a tight platformer in the same way...

Legends is loads better, and as for all platformers of all time, Bros 3, sonic 2 and sonic 3 & k, super meat boy, rocket knight adventures, mischief makers, ristar, fez, cave story, thomas was alone, vvvvvv, they bleed pixels, revenge of shinobi, dlc quest and even the recently released Volgarr the Viking beats that piece of poo U. (continue listing steam 2D platformer library here)

The only games the New Mario series beats is Super Mario Bros 1 and 2(JP), aka the games it's a (lazy) carbon copy of.

Some of those aren't even platformers and te only one that is of the same quality in smb3!

Special lols for the sonics, I mean I love them but I wouldn't even compare them to top end mario games as it gets embarrassing ;)

Going back to SMW and nsmbu is a better game, but it's pretty neck and neck on merit!

How far have you got in nsmbu out of interest?

Ristar?

Ristar?

You're a fucking loon, mate. Ristar is total utter wank.

He got to the bit where it went 'wah wah'

It goes "wah! wah-wah!" now. Totally different.

Did anyone get Giana Sisters? I've been playing it on the PS3 courtesy of it being free on PS+, but the screen tearing is doing my head in. Was wondering if it still had this problem on the Wii U version?

Can't say I noticed it... quite enjoyed what I've played of it so far, but it's had a bug where there's no sound when playing off-tv which is a real pest and it hasn't been fixed yet.

Ristar ahahahahahaha

I actually love replaying Ristar once in a while. Bright and colourful, wonderful level transitions, story that develops towards the end from planet to planet, not walk over easy, bonus levels that make you think, and I am quite fond of that music level. :)

I do of course, love Wiz n Liz more. I can't label it a platformer though.

I think the problem I have with NSMBU is that I'd agree- it's probably the pinnacle of 2d mario platforming, but it just feels like there isn't enough innovation in it. It's the same game, structure, levels, enemies, same stupid save issue where you can only save after a castle,as I've played since SMB 3.

That's why I think Rayman is a better game - it feels fresher.

But if you wanted to show a Mario platformer to someone who has never played one- NSMBU is the one to play

Yeah, you have to complete the game first to get the save anywhere option - which is bullshit in this day and age. If you want a 15 min blast, you have to make sure you do at least 3 levels.

And quick save you lose every time you start again. It just seems a bit antiquated. Which is the big problem of NSMBU. It feels like they haven't really updated it for the 21st century. Fine but this is the fourth in the NSMB series!

Maybe it's because I'm getting bored of the formula. You know what's coming next.

I am looking forward to 3d world, mind you....

You're perfectly entitled to enjoy playing Ristar, it is bright and colourful and definitely not easy but come on man, you're saying it's better than New Super Mario Bros U.

I don't get it. You can just quick save out when when you're done, however much progress you've made. Yes it's a strange design but it doesn't matter.

Why does it matter the save is deleted when you reload? It's not like you need it again. This is Mario, not Skyrim.

Which takes less than 15 minutes. Or use the quick save.
