Nintendo Wii U

The new Sonic game is £34.99 on the most expensive store in the world. They're trolling NEG good.

I'd happily pay £50, it's not a port (Wind Waker) nor an upgrade (New Mario U) to anything that's come before.

If they don't bundle Super Mario 3D World then they're idiots.

This.

That commentary almost makes me want to cancel my pre-order. Horrid.

The game does look really boring in that video too. I'm sure it'll be great mind.

Was watching that thinking exactly the same thing. Looks lovely but what happened to shorter courses with a couple of shortcuts?

It's a good price, just a shame that pack isn't out until Nov 8th :( I don't see why they couldn't release it a bit sooner. The Zelda bundle is the same price (£230, custom gamepad and a downloadable copy of Wind Walker HD) if anyone would prefer that, and it's available now.

I think if they could get these, or similar, bundles down to the magic £199 price point they'd possibly be able to kick start sales. They'd be getting into impulse buy territory. The same seems to be happening to the Vita now it's under £150 with a memory card and games.

I think the Nov release date is in the hope it charts highly around the time when people are shopping for Christmas presents.

My console is a present for my son so a Mario bundle is perfect. That's two games that he would have wanted anyway.

If anybody is wanting it, CEX online have New Super Mario Bros U in stock for £22.50 delivered - that's the cheapest I've seen it for. With it being CEX though, you run the risk of it being covered in jam and all the inserts being a mess, but I've taken a punt on it.

I wish Nintendo had a good account system. My replacement WIi U arrived but I can't use my Nintendo Network ID as it's still linked to the old Wii U (it never occurred to me that in 2013 your account would be restricted to the machine it was created on, so I didn't try to unlink it). Unless I'm mistaken I now have to register a new NNID with a new email address and username. Fantastic.

They promised they'd implement one this year. So far the only title that's made me waver is Phoenix Wright otherwise I refuse to give them any money for digital purchases (aside from those 30p ones) simply because of this.

Did we ever get the summer update, was it the one with wii on screen play?

Nintendo need to get their arse in gear with VC - its been shite after shite for a while now, they need to get more top grade Snes stuff and move onto N64 and gamecube. My daughters are mario mad but havent played M64 or Sunshine ever, imagine that being able to play those games for the first time on the game pad :o

Hey NEG there was a sonic demo up for the WiiU and 3DS

.....in Japan.

Thanks for the heads up :D I just downloaded this and despite not thinking much of the videos I'd seen I quite enjoyed it(enough to complete the one stage in the demo about 10 times in a row anyway). It's quite fun, the controls are solid, I didn't fall through the ground once and I liked the various different paths through the stage.

It does have a lot of the 3d sonic "run into a spring and watch sonic bounce around on autopilot for 10 seconds" bits that people have been complaining about since sonic adventure, which surprised me.

Anyway, it was fun and I'll be picking it up at some stage.

As a caveat, I should add that I have been known to enjoy the sonic bits of 3d sonic games in the past, in particular adventure and adventure 2 on the dreamcast, so I'm not exactly a tough critic.

You can play a lot more VC - just buy it from the Wii shop in Wii mode.

And you can use the gamepad (yes you need to use the controller separately)

I think Mario 64, SMB 2 and 3 are there. Or just buy the recent SMB anniversary for the Wii.

And if you buy the VC on Wii, it's only a quid to upgrade to Wii U when they're eventually released...

Does that actually work tho, can you play Mario 64 on the wii VC on the gamepad - how do you control it, with the VC pad plugged into a wii remote??

If so, fuck me - i have what i want already :o
