Nintendo Wii U

Not Thread Owner

Definite perception problem with the Wii U. A colleague asked me over lunch how the Wii U was, which resulted in universal derision "what do you want one of them for?" etc from four or five 30-35 year old <probeater>males</probeater>.

I replied "to play Nintendo games on?".

It's succinct. I know the Wii U owners here are in denial about the state of the platform, but that's not really my problem.

I can think of more games announced as coming to the Wii U that I'm looking forward to right now than for the PS4 and Xbox One. That's pretty much all that matters to me.

(Of course, I can think of more coming to the Xbox 360 than the Wii U too, which supports my view that the whole next gen might be a bit fucked. But that's a conversation for a different thread.)

I honestly couldn't give a fuck about sales figures, and even if the Wii U were discontinued after Christmas, there'd still be about 15 games either out already or about to drop that I'd love to play, and I'd still feel perfectly happy having spent £250 on it. Who gives a shit if everyone else misses out on the fun?

Yeah but there's no substance to that though. At least expand on your point. Everyone in this thread who owns one knows it isn't selling well and a lot of that lies with how Nintendo have handled it. No one's in denial, we're all aware of that, but we're also aware that there are mint games out for it regardless of sales and we actually want to talk about them. The Xbone thread's fucked. You've got that boring guy with the expensive PC who dresses like Judge Doom constantly going on about 'putting console kids in their place', Angel going full meltdown and Boozy lashing out at everyone. The PS4 thread is really boring with endless preorder chat. This thread is a breath of fresh air in comparison.

I friggin love my Wii U! It's had more play time than my Xbox and PS3 recently. Pikmin3, Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends Co-op with the Mrs and now Zelda WW. Mario 3D on its way and the new mario kart looks brilliant.

Anyone that thinks it's failed obviously hasn't got one and played all the above games.

Really, there's no substance to it? Have you seen the flavour of the responses from the totally delusional Wii-U crowd in the 'Problem with Nintendo' thread? You could use images of them in the dictionary entry for denial.

As for expanding on my point - why? Why should I? Many people have written thousands upon thousands of words about the subject. I could as well but why bother when it can be summarised as the above? I think it's fairly obvious what my point is. I was responding to Timdp's post and indeed all of the stories of a similar slant that float around the platform.

I am actually shocked by just how much of a pickle the console finds itself in. Having the 10 people who actually own a WiiU on Rllmuk religiously neg anything that dares to talk honestly about that situation or about the problems with the platform isn't going to help their camp.

Case in point Jack: if everyone is fine with the the state of the WiiU, is not in denial and is 'ok' with it's relative failure, why is that my posts are being negged? None of y'all are bothered, right?

Boozy.

Nicely done though Smitty, I hope we won't see you posting in the Xbox One thread now about how people are ruining the thread with their negativity and telling people to "get a fucking grip".

Yeah I haven't posted anything about anyone 'ruining the thread with...negativity'.
