Rumours abound - Luigi's Mansion for WiiU...

http://www.nintendonews.com/wii-u/further-evidence-suggests-luigis-mansion-dark-moon-for-wii-u/

I'd love Kid Icarus to be done for WiiU.

Huh. That would be interesting if true. I've not finished Luigi's Mansion on 3DS yet though because of Fire Emblem (which in turn lies unfinished because Animal Crossing).

Kid Icarus would be a much, much better game for me though. It's absolutely brilliant and more people need to play it. They could even play with twin-stick controls if they like! It might make the flight sections tricky. I guess they'd have to adjust the difficulty to account for that?

Kid Icarus' difficult select gamble system is a brilliant thing. More games should have that. I've never returned to the first level of a game so many times.

My ultimate game for them to re-do in HD would probably be F Zero GX. Even though I prefer X.

Also, regarding the latest update and the inability to use the gamepad as a controller as well as a screen; I'm pretty disappointed. I guess this will be because the gamepad does not transmit at the same frequency as the Wii remotes. This isn't something that would be technically impossible for them to overcome though, right? It will still get use from me, though, since I will be able to play Boom Street on the coffee table while watching the Come Dine With Me omnibus on a Sunday. METAL.

I agree. I'd love to play using the Wii remote and nunchuck, as well.

Agreed once more, however I really can't think how they'd get around the analogue trigger requirements (air brakes) without releasing a new controller, or making the Wii Classic Controller compulsory.

No and I wouldn't hold your breath either.

:(

That's a shame, I'm getting a Wii U for my son & I would have loved to have played it again. I was hoping it was one of the titles they had available in their virtual console/shop thingamajig.

The only way is by softmodding the vWii part of the Wii U and installing an app that lets you launch GameCube titles. I'm pretty sure that is or was possible (depending on firmware version) from what I've gathered at GBAtemp. Obviously this might brick your console, will fuck your warranty and might not be legal, not sure about that.

No Gamecube on the Virtual Console, with the release of Wind Waker HD then I guess we're more likely to see remasters at this stage. And in any case, it's Capcom, I doubt they'll consider re-releasing it given how badly it sold.

To be honest, I don't know how people can play it with a controller that isn't a Gamecube pad anyway - I tried the PS2 version and just couldn't get on with it.

it cant have sold that badly if it got two sequels could it?

Wiki says it sold 275,000 on the Gamecube and 46,000 on the PS2. Worldwide. Viewtiful Joe 2 did slightly better. Kamiya would probably do it but Capcom aren't interested.

I want Viewtiful Joe 3 with co-op :(

The problem with the Kid Icarus reviews was that a lot of people had their perceptions coloured by a few dullards who couldn't be bothered to learn the controls. The same thing seems to be happening with the Wonderful 101.

It's the frame of reference thing - if a game deviates too much from the norm when it comes to concepts and particularly controls, reviewers will get frustrated. They don't have time to learn these things... If they see a 3rd person shooter but it controls as though you're using a trackball, they just get annoyed because it doesn't do twin sticks... even though anyone proficient at KI can move around much faster than they could with twin sticks.

Apart from the stupid stick waggle when you were off balance, I preferred Avalanche to the original. Personally I'd rather they did a new Excitebike in the style of Excitebike 64.

I pos'd this but want to make it completely clear this was only for the Excitebike 64 love, and that I disagree in the strongest possible terms with your preference for Avalanche over 1080.

What was so bad about Blue Storm and Avalanche? Having only played the crippled PAL release of Wave Race 64 I found it much more enjoyable. Also wasn't Avalanche the first Nintendo game with a licensed soundtrack, even if everyone turned it off as soon as the game started.

Blue Storm was a bit clinical - also, the waves didn't seem as big a part of the course... if you know what I mean.

1080 - felt a bit more SSX. I preferred the really snowy feel of the first one (maybe because of the copious amounts of fogging).

edit : got the titles mixed up

WW does show how poor the battery is on the controller. Zelda games are pretty much designed for lengthy gaming sessions and a few hours before recharging is annoying.

Has the WiiU picked up sales wise yet? For a console thats infinetly better than its predeccesor its annoying that its doing so badly. I have already played on it more than I ever did my wii.

I would love LM2 and KI on the wiiu. They were both, IMHO, released on the wrong console and not at all suited to portable play.

I never played Blue Storm, but 1080 Snowboarding was one of my favourite N64 games and I thought Avalanche was dumbed down and sexed up, but not in a good way. Too much focus on spectacle and not enough on technique and brushing off those seconds. The tactile feel of1080 Snowboarding where you really felt your board cutting through the snow is unmatched, even SSX didn't get it implemented that well (although compensated for it by being excellent games in their own right).
