I guess if there were worthwhile things to spend them on your efforts in exploring wouldn't feel so undermined when you open a chest with 200 Rupees in it in the dark depths of some secret cave.

I do think some beneficial, fun yet entirely optional items or weapons to find (or buy at great expense) would help Zelda games a lot in terms of bringing it back to its exploratory roots. You had the cape and canes in LttP. Things like that.

That is weird. Almost as if it's overheating maybe. Was it particularly noisy at the time? Downloading anything in the background?

My Wii U is always silent. I did check for heat but it seemed fine. I wasn't downloading anything as far as I know, but it's possible an update for something was happening.

Prefer the look of the original.. so much more vibrant. The intro sweeping around is dull and blurry on the HD version as if they applied vaseline on lens.

On in game footage textures are obviously better and cleaner but again the muted colours disappoint. I think I'll replay it on my GC instead :)

Could the difference in colour saturation just be down to differing hardware? Who's to say the same RGB values will turn out the same on screen from a GC connected via component or composite and a Wii U connected via HDMI? And presumably there's some video capture device they are using which could have an impact.

The difference in colours less pronounced in this video. It also gives a better idea of the difference in the number of pixels.

0:17 the sea and ship are demonstrably more vibrant in colour as with the other comparison other ships scenes are similar

0:25 ish the dark scene love the way he almost merges into the background. HD version he seems to "pop out"

And dont get me wrong the HD version is technically better , more pixels, sharper textures, cleaner look etc. I am just saying I prefer the look of the original.

EDIT: And iots not just down to RGB mumbojumbo... the light seems a bit diffuse on the HD version as in blurred light like when rays come out of chest they seem more "natural" and diffuse... Obviously it is technically superb lighting... but I am just used to the harsh lines and vibrant toon look

I think the main issue is that I love the look of the original and I dont feel it has aged therefore I prefer it

I love the original - I don't understand how you can possibly think the new one doesn't look as good though?

Well, it is objectively different, so it's reasonable to accept that not everyone will prefer the change. It's not like they've just upped the resolution.

It's like they've taken a cartoon and added realism to it. It's kinda weird. I do love how sunny it is, mind.

And Need fo' Speed was perfectly fine last night. No stuttering or jerking or anything.

Very strange.

I tried NFSMWU out for the first time last night and it really is a great version just beating the 360 version. Tried the gamepad but preferred Pro controller with map on gamepad.

Only thing I missed was using EasyDrive on the Kinnect!
