Nintendo Wii U

Don't buy it then?

Personally I see it as the ultimate version of the game with sticking points and areas that people complained about ironed out. And it looks lovely.

Remember a while back people were saying 'oh, all I want is a widescreen HD wind waker' and they get it... and then they complain.

See also 'Pikmin 3'

How is it ultimate with dungeons still missing?

I'm surprised at the price, I thought it'd be under £30. I've just started playing it again on GameCube instead and it's pretty lovely.

What struck me about replaying the GC one was how horrible the camera controls are. There's been a lot of progress with that stuff. Presumably it'll be fixed.

Zelda games hold their value and is seen by Nintendo as one of their premium products so I can understand why they'd charge £40 for it which is the same price as most new WiiU games. And it's not like they haven't done this before, the Pokemon Leaf Green / Fire Red / Soul Silver /. Heart Gold remakes were all full price as well. In fact the Pokemon remakes were £10 more than their originals £25 price tag when they were released on the GB/GBC

I won't, at the price. Doesn't mean I don't want it. Thing is, SOTC and Ico were released with lots of new bells and whistles at £30. The God of War pair from the PS2 at a similar price. This is one game, and we all know it's a stop gap to appease people this Xmas. Releasing it as a full price retail game is taking the piss for what is, basically, a tarted up 10 year old game with some of the sticking points smoothed out.

Couldnt agree more. That price is a complete joke.

edit - I'll buy it day one obviously. Probably that LE with the statue.

Easily one of the finest looking games made to date and hasn't aged a day, really. However, I distinctly remember it being the first time I felt fatigue setting in when playing a Zelda game (and this was before the infamous Triforce collectathon)

I boot it up now and again just to have a quick look at it but I'm fucked if I'm paying Nintendo full price for it again 10years later.

My daughter wants it as it's her first memory of Zelda (watching me play it) and has played every Zelda game that's come out since.

I'm not fussed myself, I loved it at the time but I was definitely Zelda-d out by the end. I never finished TP and hardly started SS.

A new version of one of the greatest games ever made. What about OoT 3D? That's also worth every penny.

God of War was just an HD version of the existing textures and models. Same for SOTC and Ico. This is a complete overhaul. What about kids that were too young to play it at the time. There'll be people out there where Link Between Worlds and Wind Waker will be their first ever Zelda games... In Wind Waker worth less because there's a previous version? Dunno...

It's not one of the greatest games ever made. It should cost less because there is no new content to generate, just re do what is already there. And as for Ico, that had 3D added to it.

ICO and Shadow of the Colussus didn't exactly set any sales records when they were released. If you don't want to pay £40 for it wait for it drop down in price which knowing Zelda games will be in about 5 years time.

It looks like a lot of work has gone into it, just like the Ocarina of Time remake. New models, textures and new areas. Seems fair enough to charge as much as any other game.

I imagine adding 3D to Ico was just a case of adding an extra camera and moving it to the side a bit.

Are we discussing assets? Because Wind Wakers assets were not complicated to begin with. I'd suspect OoT 3D was trickier to add detail, and even then, the models still don't have hands with individual fingers.

Right... wtf.

I get a USB drive and a Y cable. I connect it to the WiiU and when I switch on it asks if I want to format it... so I say yes.

happy days

I think go on to eshop to start downloading the stuff I've had to clear out of the fridge... only to be told I've not enough space.

hmmm... I think... so I go to data management and select a few games to move to USB, which takes a while... then, after I do so, my wii U menu now doesn't show those games when I start up.

I mean... really... it shouldn't be this f$%King hard!

Again with the myth that toon-shaded graphics are somehow simple or technically undemanding. Wind Waker is a technical marvel and has a quality of animation I've not seen equalled.

HD is still re-used assets, though!

It's been a long time coming but Rayman is finally out today then. Anyone remember that offer Zavvi were doing for half price games? It does seem as if Zavvi have forgotten as my order from February hasn't budged. Anyone else had their copy sent out yet?

Hmm. Sounds odd. Does it give you a little HDD icon like the Wii had an SD Card icon?

(I'm just asking, I don't know as my external drive hasn't arrived yet.)

Dunno - didn't check. It certainly recognised it ok... I shoved both USB plugs into the front. I found it strange that it didn't let me download Trine 2. I've got 250Gb on the wee drive and the system menu can see it and it's been formatted for use with the WiiU... so I thought I'd copy games off to the USB drive to see if that made a difference. The games copied ok (took a while!) but when complete, my wiiu menu is full of empty boxes...

This gives me much sad face... as I want Wonderful 101 dammit!

Almost makes me want to sell the current Wii U and get that. ::slaps self around the face::

...I wouldn't be able to transfer purchases anyway.
