Nintendo Wii U

I like to keep games I like (or in some of these cases, at least think I will like) until it becomes a bit pointless to sell them anyway, I'm not that fussed. I really like having games installed for the convenience and I got both of them for an equivalent of about £26 each in end with my premium code too.

for me, the benefit of having games I can just dip in and out of without swapping discs or taking discs with me if I take the console to a friends house outweighs the future £5-10 I'm likely to get in trade in.

Also, despite what is being said at the moment, I get the feeling that pre-owned is going to take some sort of pretty big knock this coming gen. How and what I'm not sure but I just can't see it being sustained. In business terms it was a shitty deal IMHO how it played out in retail anyway.

Don't you guys intend to ever sell your Wii U games? Blimey.

Well I mean clearly not, but it's surprising. Unless you only choose the Nintendo releases digitally and everything else physical.

I only really sell/trade games that I don't like, or if I'm upgrading (PS3 HD/Wii NPC ports). If I'm not sure about something then I'll get it on disc. For the most part, Nintendo games are safe bets. I've done the same on the Vita, although to be fair, I can't think of a retail game that I've been interested in since Gravity Rush.

I haven't sold a game since 1993. And even then, technically, I traded it.

I used to collect but too much space and much like the hundreds of dvds i have they never got played - when we moved i sold loads and skipped loads, i tend to sell stuff on here/ebay as since cd's came to games machines they dont feel special enough to collect for some reason to me!

I still download a lot of games, i have hundreds on the 360 inc arcade and full releases and they are gone now im done with the 360 but who cares - no hassle and not worth selling them if they were retails games for the pittance raised!

Out of interest, has anyone here soft modded their Wii on their Wii-U?

I soft modded my Wii using the Super Smash Bros method, found it pretty painless, and really tempted to softmod the Wii U's Wii (then I can probably pack the Wii away, bar playing Gamecube games on it which very rarely do) but for some reason worried about messing it up somehow...

Wondered if it was all okay for anyone who has done it?

My local Blockbuster was selling them instore for £150 a couple of weeks ago.It might be worth ringing a local store if you have one.

Otherwise, the price for the basic seems to keep dropping to £150 on Amazon and similar sites. If you can wait then I would imagine it will fall in price again.

Finally finished Skyward Sword last night so was on the lookout for something new to play.

I'd had my eye on Lego city for a few months and today I managed to find a copy at CEX that looked brand new (the point card was untouched and the Lego figure still sealed) for 28 quid.

I'm only an hour into the game but haven't laughed so much playing a piece of software for many years. The attention to detail is amazing and you can see that the development team have put so much love into this.

If you've not added this to your WiiU collection I can really recommend it.

I've been seriously thinking of getting a wii u lately, in part just because I want something new and I also want to get a few local multiplayer games and the wii u seems well suited to it.

I was strongly considering getting a wii u and Sonic Racing Transformed. I've played the ps3 demo and liked it, but I figured the wii u version with off screen play and also the gamepad for multiplayer would be the better version to have.

This morning I was searching online and discovered that bizarrely (in my opinion anyway) this game was never released here in Japan on any format.

Which means I can play it easily on PS3 by importing the us/eu version, but thanks to the wii u being region locked I can't do that.

So I'll just be getting the PS3 version instead, even though it wouldn't have been my first choice..

I think there are some people from Sumo here so my question is, why the hell was this game not released in Japan? ;)

In the case of a lot of games, I could understand, but sonic and sega all stars racing?

Is there no market in Japan for sonic games or is it something else? The lost world seems to be getting a push here even though it's not out particularly soon.

To bring this post back on topic, region locking really sucks :)

My wife says I have to finish one of my pile of unplayed games before I can buy The Wonderful 101... I'm playing Deus Ex on the PS3, but all I can think is how much better it would be on the Wii U. Until you go back, you don't realise how much better it is having menus/maps/keypads etc on a seperate screen.
Don't know if I'm just getting old and jaded though, but the 'stealth' stuff in Deus Ex just seems so tedious and predictable. Hasn't really changed much since Goldeneye. Slightly OT here I know!

Could you circumvent that decision by selling a game you're not that motivated to play at the moment? Even Deus Ex could be sold and then repurchased on Wii U at a later date. ;)
